Hollywood level graphics in ‘Eega’

Star director SS Rajamouli, who has completed the first schedule of his movie ‘Eega’, has reportedly approached the Hollywood CGI (computer generated imagery) experts for introducing high-end computer graphics for the movie.The producers of the movie, which will be a full-fledged animation flick, are ready to spend Rs.5 Cr for computer graphics. The story of the movie, which will move around a fly and a man, has to show minute details of movements of the fly and only computer graphics can do that.Rajamouli, who is making this movie in both Telugu and Tamil languages, has plans to dub this into several languages including English and release it world wide.

Rajamouli says on his twitter page: “I have completed the first schedule of Eega and ended it on a very satisfactory note. I am very happy with Sudeep, Samantha and Nani.” These three actors are playing the lead roles in the experimental film.

Trisha takes time off to visit wild life sanctuary

Trisha, who is busy with the shooting of ‘Teen Mar’ and ‘Savitri’, the two Telugu movies she has signed recently, has taken time off to visit the most famous Ranthambore National Park, the wildlife sanctuary located 130 km away from Jaipur in the Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan.

She was spotted by some journalists who could not restrain themselves from talking to her. “I travelled many places in the world but this is my first visit to the wild life sanctuary,” she said.

When Ramoji Rao and his son Kiran Kumar attended the court, suddenly some supporters of the media baron started raising slogans and when the lawyers asked them to be calm, the mob tried to attack the lawyers and media persons.

One Mr Aditya Krishna Varma filed a cheating case against Ramoji Rao. The complaint is that Mr Ramoji Rao took the land of Varma for lease for 33 years and without his knowledge, surrendered part of the land to the authorities for road widening. When the government gave alternative piece of land to Ramoji Rao, he got it registered in his name with out the knowledge of Varma.

Varma said that Ramoji Rao had surrendered 872 square yards of land to the municipal corporation and claimed an equivalent amount of land. Alleging that Mr Rao claimed the land by submitting a false affidavit, Varma filed a case in the Three Town police station.

Rao went to the high court seeking dismissal of the case but his plea was rejected. His plea that he should be exempted from attending the court personally was also rejected by the court.

A large number of people, who arrived at the court in vehicles soon after Ramoji Rao entered the court premises, behaved rudely with the lawyers and media personnel. They took away the camera of a TV channel and smashed it on the ground. Media personnel later gave a complaint to the police.

Prabhas, Kajal, marriage, loveThe news is that love was generated between Prabhas and Kajal during the shooting of the hit movie ‘Darling’ and as the shooting progressed, their love also flourished. “Because they are getting married, the shooting of the movie ‘Mr Perfect’ was launched immediately,” is the talk of the Tollywood streets.

If you remember well, the pair of Kollywood action hero Surya and heroine Jyothika also faced such rumours before their marriage in Chennai. But, they proved the gossip was not just the gossip but a practical reality.

Unit members who worked on the sets of ‘Darling’ said that the pair of Prabhas and Kajal seemed to be deeply immersed in love even during the shooting of that movie and both of them looked absent minded during the shoot. “Like a hero and heroine in a dream song of a movie, this pair also used to dream during the shooting of ‘Darling,’” said a technician who worked for this movie.

We have to wait for either confirmation or denial of this news by either of the pair and we should only wish them to continue in their hallucinations of love without any interruption till then. Good luck to Prabhas and Kajal!

NRI's book release function faces T-glitch

HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed at Press Club, Somajiguda, on Monday when Telangana Youth Forum president and two others tried to attack a non-resident Indian (NRI) Nalamotu Chakravarthy, during his book release function.

According to Punjagutta inspector K Ashoka Chakravarthy, the novelist, a native of Nalgonda, came to the city to release his book `Mana Telugu Talli'. He invited veteran journalist A B K Prasad and others to release his book.

After the book release, as Chakravarthy was replying to queries posed by mediapersons, Telangana Youth Forum president Raghu Rami Reddy and his father Narasimha Reddy and another person, Lakshman, landed at the venue and alleged that the book "insulted Telangana people and hurt their sentiments.'' The trio forced their way to the dais and took the book from the author's hand and flung it.

The Punjagutta police reached the spot and took the three persons into custody. Later, cases were registered under sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against the trio.

Telugu Movie review - Ye Maya Chesave

Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) is an engineering graduate who wants to pursue his career as a film director. Samantha is his neighbour and he falls in love with her at the very first sight. But there are two catches. One is that she is elder to him and the bigger hitch is that she is a Malayali Christian. He proposes to her and she slowly falls for his guts and his perseverance. Her strict father comes to know about it and settles her marriage. She loves him, but can’t hurt her entire family by marrying him. The rest of the story is all about how Karthik achieves his passion to become a film director and tastes success at the personal front.

Naga Chaitanya: Naga Chaitanya is extremely natural in the role of Karthik. It is basically a conversational film with too many tight close-ups. It takes real confidence and acting
prowess to do such scenes in an authoritative manner. Naga Chaitanya proves that he is a brilliant actor with his performance in this movie. His dialogue delivery and body language is highly authentic. You are not going to believe that this is his second film after watching his performance. It’s a top notch effort from him and he will do wonders in the future.

Samantha: Samantha’s debut is one of the best heroine debuts in Telugu cinema. This dusky beauty is highly charming and she is cool in acting as well. The minute expressions she gave spoke volumes about her. Lots of credit should go to director for etching her beautiful characterization. I absolutely loved the voice of the artist who dubbed her. She is the same one who dubbed the voice of Sameera Reddy in ‘Surya s/o Krishnan’. It’s husky and contemporary.

Others: Krishnudu is very good as hero’s friend. Sanjay Swaroop (producer and husband of Manjula) did the role of hero’s father and he suited it well. Puri Jagan played as himself for a few scenes. Trisha and Simbhu (who acted in the Tamil version of the same) did a cameo. All other actors are cast appropriately. Surekha Vani is very good

Technical departments

ye maya chesaveStory: Men are simple and women are complex. When it comes to love, man proposes to a woman with plain heart and with no complications. Women, on the other hand make simple things complicated with their complex behaviour. Gowtam Menon has beautifully explored that point and penned a wonderful story of a simple guy who would do anything for love and a complex girl who keeps vacillating about taking decisions.

screenplay - direction: Screenplay of the movie is very good. The movie could end at any point after interval. It needs tremendous narrative skills and screenplay to make people get interested in the second half because the movie can end at the moment hero/heroine converge upon on marriage. I loved the love episodes between Surya and Sameera Reddy (train scene) in Surya s/o of Krishnan and wondered when he is going to make such a story into a full-leangth feature film and Gowtam Menon answered my wish with his next movie by filling it full of magical moments and sweet nothings. It’s a astonishing work by Gowtam Menon. You can’t separate a moment from the movie to be the best. This movie is like a seamless flow of visual poetry.

ye maya chesaveOther departments: Music by AR Rehman is awesome. Songs are extremely good and background score, rerecording and mixing is perfectly done. All songs are picturized extremely well. Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa breath-taking. The choice of locations and camera work blended seamlessly. Dialogues by Anuradha are extremely natural and contemporary. Art direction by Rajeevan is superb. Editing my Anthony is flawless. Production values by Indira Productions are impeccable.

Analysis: I had never seen such a wonderful movie that deals with the straightforward nature of a man and complex nature of a woman so perfectly. Everybody must have gone through these moments in their lives and you are sure to get nostalgic watching some moments in this movie. The entire movie is excellent and extremely engaging except for 10 minutes (in second half from the breakup to the scene where other female proposes him). It takes guts and tremendous conviction makes a movie like Ye Maya Chesave from the director, producer and hero (It was Naga Chaitanya who set this combination up). All three of them should be appreciated for making this movie happen. Ye Maya Chesave movie should do extremely well in multiplexes and A centers. I wish/hope/want this movie to do well in B/C centers as well. This film has all the ingredients for a movie to remain as a timeless classic. Go and watch it!!

Hero Raja goes depressed and attempts suicide

Actor Raja enacts a real life drama � he attempted suicide by consuming a few sleeping pills, went to the hospital for a stomach wash, then wrote to the State Human Rights Commission stating that his film Inkokasari, which released in February, doesn�t have enough theatres to screen it. �How many times can we postpone the release of our film? No one was willing to give us theatres to screen Inkokasari. Despite working hard on the film, my producer had no choice but to run from pillar to post to try and release it. I was depressed about this �unavailability of theatres� and it drove me to attempt suicide,� Raja admitted to this correspondent. Raja blamed the bigger players who were responsible. �Filmmakers like Allu Aravind, Suresh Babu and Dil Raju own several theatres across the state. They have a stronghold on most of these theatres and it is a monopoly. The entire industry is being controlled by a few such people who conveniently ignore small budget films,� he says. �They constantly ask us to delay the release of our films because big budget movies are slated for release on that day.� The actor, who is also active in politics, says it is time the government steps in to allot specific theatres for small budget movies. He has also requested the state commission to enforce the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act in this case. Although several small filmmakers have spoken about this monopoly, this is the first time that an actor has come out in the open with it. �Most theatres are owned by a few film families. As a result star sons and actors from such families have an unfair advantage over us. They even have bigger collections. I am fighting not just for my film but for all the small movies which are waiting to hit the screens,� says Raja. D. Suresh Babu, producer It is very unfortunate that Raja has made such allegations against us. It only puts him in poor light. There are six multiplexes in the city which are not owned by anyone from the industry. Why couldn�t Raja get prime shows for his film? He should realise that if the movie is good distributors will come forward to screen it. There is no monoploy. Distributors will be interested in screening movies of big stars as they have huge fan following and they have high expectations from them. RK, producer, actor Some of the bigger filmmakers own several theatres and dominate Tollywood. They are killing the film industry. But when we went on a hunger strike last year, Raja was nowhere to be seen. None of the other actors supported us either. Raja is reportedly charging Rs 40 lakh for his latest film why can�t he reduce that to help his producer? Big or small budget, if the movie is good, only then will distributors show interest. - D C

Telangana: 45 injured as violence breaks out at Osmania University

HYDERABAD: Violence broke out at the Osmania University campus here today when police stopped students from staging a march with the the body of

a youth who committed suicide by immolating himself apparently due to delay in formation of a separate Telangana state.

Police said at least 30 students and 15 policemen, including Kachiguda ACP K Ramchander, were injured as the premises turned into a battlefield with students throwing stones and torching police vehicles.

Police burst teargas shells and fired rubber bullets and used water cannons to disperse them. Some mediapersons were also hurt during the clashes.

The violence broke out over shifting the body of K Venugopal Reddy, a 23-year-old final-year MCA student who set himself ablaze yesterday at the university, which has been a focal point for the youth demanding Telangana.

The students planned to take out Venugopal's body in a procession towards Gun Park near Andhra Pradesh state assembly from the Arts College premises where the body was kept since yesterday. Hundreds of students gathered at the Arts College premises to pay their respects to Venugopal.

But police stopped them from taking out any procession saying it may aggravate the situation in view of the bandh being already observed in the city in support of Telangana

Story

namo venkatesa Venkata Ramana (Venkatesh) is a ventriloquist. He goes along with the troop of artists to perform for a local Telugu association in Europe. Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam) is a tour organizer in Europe. He enjoys making people around bakras. Pooja (Trisha) is the niece of Prasad. Venkata Ramana falls in love with her. Prasad realises that only way to make Ramana bakra is to tell him that Pooja loves him too. Pooja is the daughter of a rich factionist in Rayalaseema and she is forced to return back in the middle. Her marriage is fixed with a guy she doesn’t like. The rest of the story is all about how Prasad conspires with Ramana to rescue Pooja.

Artists Performance

namo venkatesa It’s a cake walk for Venkatesh to do such a fine comedy performance. He looks good and performs very well in the only emotional scene in the climax. Trisha is nice. Brahmanandam is pretty good as a guy who loves fooling around with the people. Ali is entertaining in a brief role. MS Narayana’s jyotishyam episode is nice. It’s a routine role for Subbaraju. Jaya Prakash Reddy, Dharmavarapu, Kota and Telangana Sakuntala are adequate. Master Bharath’s character is not hilarious as it is supposed to be a positive character helping hero.

Technical departments

namo venkatesaStory: There is no freshness in the story and entire story runs on deja vu. We have seen innumerous movies (Sankham, Jayeebhava, Saleem to name a few in the last few months) in the past where the half of the film happens in the abroad and the other half shifts to Rayalaseema. Our story writers are still stuck in DDLJ hangover where hero comes from abroad to stay in heroine’s place. The idea of hero planning to start a factory by partnering with the family of heroine is also inspired by DDLJ. Venkatesh has done similar climaxes in three films after year 2000 (Nuvvu Naku Nachav, Vasantham, Adavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule) where heroine who is about to get married to another guy changes her heart in the last minute.

namo venkatesaScreenplay - direction: Screenplay of the movie is good in parts. Seenu Vytla who mastered the art of entertainment made sure that he had lots of entertaining scene in the movie. However, most of them are already done by him in movies like Dhee and Ready. Irrespective of how many number of times he directs drinking scenes in his movies, Seenu Vytla makes sure that he entertains each of the time in a refreshing way. The way Venkatesh dances to tunes of other heroes and beats Brahmanandam up by remembering his enemies is good. I also like the creative idea of changing the tunes in the background when Venkatesh and Ali aim for Trisha (Emaindi Ee vela and aashique banaya). We expect a lot from Brahmanandam character in Seenu Vytla movies. In the earlier movies of Seenu Vytla, heroes make Brahmanandam a bakra and audiences loved it. However, in this movie Brahmanandam makes hero bakra most of the times. Hence the desired effect is missing on the Brahmanandam character in this movie compared to earlier Seenu Vytla’s movies. Screenplay of the movie becomes disengaged towards latter part of the second half.

namo venkatesaOther departments: Music by Devi Sri Prasad is adequate with the title song being peppy. Picturization of the songs is very good. Cinematography by Prasad Murella deserves a special applause as the visuals are shot beautifully. The virgin locations chosen for shooting of songs are excellent. Diaogues by Ramana Chintapally are nice. Production values by the new production house
’14 Reels Entertainment’ are very good. A lot of care is taking in postproduction activities as well.

namo venkatesaAnalysis: First half of the movie is entertaining. The second half becomes little lengthy and predictable. The plus points of the movie are Venkatesh’s performance and Seenu Vytla’s entertainment orientation. On the flipside, a novel screenplay (as most of the screenplay resembles that of Ready and Dhee) in the second half would have given fresh feel to the movie. We have to wait and see how it works at box office.

namo venkatesaTailpiece: Venkatesh has always been a producer’s hero. Not many people know that Venkatesh suffered with chikungunya towards the end of the shoot of this movie. He had to dance for Namo Venkatesa title song and Bangkok song despite of the pains because they had to release the movie for Sankranthi. If you look at Venkatesh in these songs, you realise that he looks fresh and happy. That’s why Venkatesh is called as the producer’s hero.

Review

Story

This is the story of twins who get separated at birth. Narasimha (NTR) gets raised by a single mother and he becomes an undercover agent to a top cop. Chari (NTR) is brought up by a family of traditional Hindu priests. A gang of baddies (Asish Vidyardhi and Mahesh Manjrekar) are in search of the family of a top scientist. The rest of the story is about the relationship between the scientist and the twins and the comedy generated by switching between the characters

Artists Performance

adurs NTR: NTR donned two roles. He is extremely entertaining as Chari with Brahmin diction. He generated lots of comedy when he says ‘naakesaru’ repeatedly in the movie. His character as Narasimha is more like extension of his Kantri character (both looks and mannerisms). His dances
are amazing and give you a mass kick in the title song that comes before climax.

adursOthers: Brahmanandam hogs the limelight again in this movie as a Hindu priest who ‘maintains’ the family of Nayana Tara. Brahmanandam has lots of footage and he in combination of NTR makes sure that there is enough entertainment. Nayana Tara is paired up with Chari character and she is pretty good. Sheela is glamorous and she is paired with Narasimha character. Mahesh Manjrekar is wasted due to poor characterization. Nassar, Sayaji Shinde and Asish Vidyardhi are alright.

Technical departments

adursStory - screenplay - direction: Story given by Kona Venkat is contrived. It is an old-fashioned formulaic story of twins which had been presented to us umpteen number of times (Don, Rowdy Alludu, Mugguru Monagallu, Hello Brother etc). The scientist father angle is inspired by Krishh. The undercover agent had The Departed/Pokiri shades. Screenplay by VV Vinayak should have been better. VV Vinayak who brings emotion into his action films couldn’t do justice to mass character in Adurs. The action sequences and emotion involved in it is not properly established. However, VV Vinayak seems to have acquired a knack for getting his comedy timing well since his last film Krishna. The characterization he has done for Chari character deserves applause. I liked the ‘atma’ (mummy) twist given to Brahmanandam character in the second half. The second half and climax needs a lot of improvement.

adursOther departments: The numbers scored by Devi Sri Prasad are just okay. My personal favourites are ‘where is the panchekattu’ followed by title song. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is alright. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are good in parts. Editing and other post-production activities should have been better. The graphics work done in this movie is sub-standard compared to big hero projects. Producer Vamsi has spent good amount of money in the movie, but it is not converted into the final product. There is no slickness in visuals and sound.

adursAnalysis: First half of the movie is okay with some nice entertainment by NTR (Chari character) and Bramanandam. The second half of the movie where the real crux lies is not constructed well. The three serious villains (Sayaji Shinde, Asish Vidyardhi & Mahesh Manjrekar) of the movie conspire in the second half only to transform themseleves into comedy villains. The climax should have been better. Plus point of the movie is comedy by Chari character. The story and screenplay are the weaklings. VV Vinayak should have concentrated more on Narasimha character to get the balance in terms of emotion and action orientation. We have to wait and see how the masses receive it.

State-wide attacks on Reliance stores

Hyderabad, Jan. 7: Congress activists on Thursday attacked Reliance outlets in many places in the state after private TV news channels aired a report allegedly filed by a Russian website that named Mr Mukesh Ambani in relation with the death of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

The report reportedly appeared in theeXile.ru, a Russian lifestyle magazine, on September 6 last year, four days after the death of the then Chief Minister in a helicopter crash. The report alleged that the crash was the result of a conspiracy.

theeXile.ru was banned in Russia in 2008 and shifted to the United States where it is facing restrictions.

The report surfaced in local TV channels on Thursday evening, and triggered attacks on the outlets belonging to the company. Police promptly posted personnel to guard the outlets.

Employees and guards of Reliance Fresh in the city downed shutters and in some cases abandoned their stores after they came under attack by Congress activists. Two Reliance offices in Brodipet and Lakshmipuram were attacked and local activists staged a dharna, a report from Guntur said. In Vijayawada, company officials closed their outlets as a precautionary measure.

In Gandhi Chowk, Nellore, activists attacked a Reliance Web World showroom and damaged glasses and furniture. They burnt computers and fled before the police reached the spot with their forces.

In Tirupati, Congress activists led by the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) chairman, Mr C. Bhaskar Reddy, stormed Reliance outlets.

In Visakhapatnam, petrol and retail outlets belonging to Reliance were damaged.

Activists in Khammam called for a district bandh on Friday as a fallout of the report. Two closed Reliance petrol bunks were burnt in the district.

When asked whether any action would be initiated against TV channels for triggering such attacks, Hyderabad police commissioner B. Prasada Rao said, "We will look into the matter after verification."

"It's a master plan of 'big hand' to divert people's attention with Telangana issue. I feel that. Praful Patel said that he will bring out report on YSR's death in the last week of November. The culprits must have got alerted and diverted the issue encouraging Telangana turmoil in Nov-Dec 2009 by manipulating CBI. They thought public memory is short. But media is there to awaken every minute", says Ranganath, a cab driver.

The state is now burning hot with these new found suspicions and Reliance offices are getting closed down much before stipulated time from Thursday. We have to see if they will be opened tomorrow.

The author, whose book 'Five Point Someone' became the basis for the film, had accused the producers of not giving him due credit in the movie.

"I definitely do not have anything against team '3 Idiots'. I may have some issues on the mistake they may have made but nothing about their personality or the kind of people they are. I apologise to their families if there was any distress caused to them," Bhagat told a news channel.

"I also want to thank all my fans, who stood by me but I don't want them to turn against anyone especially Aamir.

Chetan Bhagat, 3 Idiots' team in story credit row

NEW DELHI: `3 Idiots' may be creating box-office history. But all's certainly not well between Chetan Bhagat, the author of the book from which

the movie has been adapted, and its hero Aamir Khan, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani.

An `idiotic' controversy has broken out over accusations of credit poaching. The film credits the story to Abhijat Joshi and Hirani. Bhagat's name appears at the film's end.

Bhagat is miffed that the film does not give him due credit. Khan claims that Bhagat is trying to take away the credit from the film's scriptwriter, Joshi. Agencies have quoted the actor
as saying that he has advised Chopra and Hirani to file a case against Bhagat as he has defamed them with "false" allegations.

Reacting to this, Bhagat told a news agency, "For the past two years I have trusted Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Aamir blindly and this is what I get in return. Now I am being threatened with legal action but I am ready for it."

Chopra too jumped into the fray on Friday. When the controversy was brought up by journalists at a press meet in Noida, he thundered, ``Have you read the book? I have read the book, so shut up!'' He also charged that Bhagat was trying to gain publicity for his book. Bhagat retorted that he doesn't need this kind of fame and he can't help it if millions of people who have read the book have spotted the issue.

The row first erupted on Thursday, when Bhagat blogged, "Pre-release, the makers made press statements like the movie is only `very loosely', `2%-5% inspired by the book'. After release, those who have read the book and seen the movie (and frankly, I think those are the only people who have the right to comment) find the film to be an adaptation of Five Point Someone.''

"The setting, characters, plotline, dramatic twists and turns, one-liners, theme, message - almost all aspects that make up the story are from FPS. Yes, there are some changes, any adaptation requires that - but it is no way an original story. Leading movie critics have privately admitted to me that the film is 70% the book. Still, don't take my word for it - go read the book, watch the film."

Aamir's view is totally different. At a press conference on Thursday, he said "it is unfortunate that Chetan is behaving in this manner". Aamir said Joshi and Hirani have "abided by the contract" entered into with Bhagat and the author has been given due credit as per the contract.

"For nearly three years, Joshi has been working on the script. It is unfortunate that Chetan is trying to take away the credit from someone not as famous as he is," Aamir said.

He also mentioned how Chetan had dropped in on the sets of `3 Idiots' one day, when Aamir had the chance to interact with him. "During the course of the conversation I told him that I was yet to read `Five Point Someone', which I intended doing sometime soon. Chetan then told me that Abhijat's script is different and that I might not necessarily read the book. Let's not talk about this topic anymore and move on to other interesting things," he said.

However, in his blog, Chetan also says that "crores was poured into publicity on shutting me out and cementing the fact that `3 Idiots' is not based on `Five Point Someone'. However, the book had been read by millions of people and the FPS buzz just did not die down."

He adds, "My family sat in the theatre shocked, as sequence after sequence came from the book. 2%-5% means 3-6 minutes, and I had told my family to look for the few FPS moments and note them. However, there were so many that it became impossible to keep track. The plot line was the same - people meet at ragging, the first class with definition of machine, the friends separate, Alok (Raju) moves with Venkat (Chatur), Ryan (Rancho) helps Alok's father, Alok rejoins group etc etc. From Alok (Raju) jumping to stealing the papers and calling out from Cherian (Virus's) office - the book came alive on screen. I was surprised and happy that FPS has made it in such a grand way.

1.0 So Where do We Stand at the Year End?

It has been good year, only for New Home buyers with prices of apartments and plots coming down from the highs of 2007 /08. While year 2008 and saw consistent fall throughout which continued till first quarter of 2009. The price fall stopped after April 09 elections.

In third quarter, it looked as if prices are creeping up but then it stopped and have been stable since then.

The Telanagana separation issue heated up by end November. Though the general perception was that market will nose dive, what we see is absolute stability. There has not been any price fall so far due to Telanagana agitation, which is against normal expectations.

All of the NRI visitors who came down in December and have been looking around for special deals, have unfortunately failed to find any.

The reason is not hard to find. The prices came down from the peak of 2007 in several sudden jerks. The major reasons were the change in building regulations, previous TRS agitation and then the economic slow down which hit the country in last quarter of 2008 and continued well into second half of 2009. After having fallen a good deal over 2 years, there seem to be no more leeway for builders to reduce.

In fact, Hyderabad apartment rates are now comparable to those in tier 2 cities like Pune, Cochin, Coimbatore, Vizag, Vijaywada etc in equivalent localities, unlike earlier.

2.0 QUICK LOOK AT HISTORIC YEAR END APARTMENT PRICES NEAR HITEC CITY

Fall from the peak rate of 2007 near Hitec City is 21.4%. So value of your investment in any apartment near Hitec made in 2007, has come down by 21.4%.

This is nothing compared to erosion in Nizampet road, where fall is close to 30% . (Prices have fallen from 2800/sft to Rs.2000/sft now, which amounts to 28.6% fall)

3.0 Constructed Area Vs Land

The possible impact of division of the state seem to have already been discounted by the market. Also pure speculative investment by Andhraites in Apartments is miniscule and will have no impact on the market. There is NRI investment but that will NOT get wholly pulled out if state splits tomorrow. Even if there is some pull out that will be insignificant to cause any concern in market.

So even if there is a division tomorrow we can not expect significant fall in apartment rates. No new projects will get launched for quite some time now, helping market to slowly absorb the current excess inventory, while prices remain relatively stable.

But this may not be true in the case of land. Unlike apartments, almost 90% investment in land is speculative and most of this has been by Builders and Investors from Andhra Region. NRI investment is insignificant compared to thousands and thousands of acres held by people from Andhra for pure investment or for business purposes 360 degrees around and inside the core areas of the city.

Since the land investors are largely into big business, knee-jerk business interest could drive land holders to sell and re-invest in Andhra hoping to get positive return earlier. This could negatively impact land and plot rates. HOWEVER, do note that this withdrawal will only be sentimental and for few months, after which things should stabilize and start looking up.

4.0 Division. Why is it necessary?

Everyone would agree that if YSR was alive, the present situation would not have arose at all. His absence has turned the political dynamics, head over heals. AP ended up with a CM who himself declared that he is directionless and clueless. The CM was unable to judge the actual inner mood of people and elected reps, before "leaving everything to Center". Great leaders should be able to know the underlying sentiments. But that was not to be.

After having opened the bottle, it would be foolish to withhold division, anymore. In the interest of all Telugu people and to ensure that enmity do not arise between people, the state has to be split with suitable negotiated arrangement between the different regions. Both states could and WILL work towards overall development of individual states.

The primary concern of Andhraites is loss of Hyderabad and they worry that their investment in Hyderabad will lose considerable value. However, sentiment is clouding the FACT that for Telangana State, Hyderabad will be a gem which they will protect and polish. So after the initial hiccup we will see Hyderabad developing possibly faster than what we have seen in last 2 to 3 years.

5.0 Possible Division Scenarios

(Whatever be the decision, do note that there are extremely complicated issues to be resolved which could take years. Sharing of Water, Power and Cost ofand access to existing infrastructure which currently the whole of AP enjoys like dams, mines, ports, airports, highways etc )

OPTION 1. Two States with Hyderabad as Telengana Capital. Vizag or Vijayawada as Andhra/Rayalaseema Capital. There will be issue of Compensation.

OPTION 2. Two States with Hyderabad as combined Capital for 10 Years while TWO brand new capital cities are built in two states. During this period, the States will resolve critical issues like sharing of water, power etc

After 10 years, Hyderabad could become a State or a UT. Look at how even with Delhi there, Noida and Gurgaon has developed on either side. Noida and Gurgoan have grown into gigantic cities.

We could do much better by custom designing cities with huge roads and other infrastructure like the Chinese have done. Instead of ONE Hyderabad, people of Andhra and Telengana could have THREE World Class Cities.

Looking at the current situation in which the people of the state are in, it will be wise to go for the Second Option. All free thinking people whether from Andhra or Telangana will agree to this position.

Its heard that the Second Option is being discussed in Delhi. If all Parties sit down and start discussing, an agreed position will emerge.

Instead of taking to streets and damaging private properties across the State, lets hope the leaders will call off all agitations and start serious discussions to decide on the modalities of division.

'Sporting’ activists shun violence on T-bandh day !!

Hyderabad, Dec. 30: For the first time, Telangana bandh went off peacefully barring stray incidents. Agitators expressed their protest in a noble way instead of damaging public and private property.

The agitators played cricket, volleyball and other games on roads while raising pro-Telangana slogans Telangana in many districts such as Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar and Adliabad. Women activists participated in "Batukamma' celebrations while organising lunch for all the agitators on highways.

The JAC's call for peaceful protest and heavy deployment of police prevented agitators from violence and attacks.

Shops and business establishments, educational institutes, petrol bunks, banks, government offices were closed because of the bandh. Passengers were put to hardship due to the cancellation of 8,000 buses and 165 trains in the T- region.

According to the police, around 900 persons were arrested as preventive measure. The DGP, Mr R.R. Girish Kumar, said there were road blockades in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar. "Buses were not allowed to ply in order to avoid unnecessary damage," he said.

Around 434 agitators were arrested in the twin cities. JAC members and political leaders who took part in the protests were taken into preventive custody including the JAC chairman, Mr Kodandaram, TD MLAs Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Mr Devender Goud and the state BJP chief, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya. Additional DG (law and order) Mr A.K. Khan said there were no major violent incidents in the state.

GUNTUR, Dec. 30: Guntur-based builders are worried over the Telangana agitation.

The builders who are building apartments for the past 15 years in Hyderabad have already reduced the prices of the apartments. They are not in a position to take up any more new ventures in Hyderabad and fear that if T-agitation is continued they cannot sell the apartments.

The builders who had already started construction of apartments are fearing that they cannot sell them. Settlers in Hyderabad are not coming forward to purchase apartments due to the T-agitation and recession has already hit the apartment sales.

SVS homes managing director, Mr Kandula Subba Rao said, "I have been building apartments for the past 15 years in Hyderabad. If the T-agitation is continued we cannot build any more apartments." He said settlers are not coming forward to purchase apartments.

The builders who had invested crores of rupees on the apartments are worried that they if they complete the ventures, they cannot sell the apartments. Some of the settlers are selling their apartments at lower prices. "If the same situation prevails construction of apartments will come to a grinding halt in Hyderabad," he said. Another builder, Mr Yaganti Subba Rao said, recession hit the construction activity in Hyderabad. NRIs and software employees are not purchasing the luxurious apartments in Hyderabad due to recession. Settlers are feeling insecure.

Some of the Software employees who have purchased the apartments with bank loans are not paying their loan installments to the banks.

The banks are conducting auctions and selling the apartments. Some builders have reduced the profit margins and selling the apartments to come out of the financial crisis.

Demand for apartments gains momentum in Vijayawada city !! AP

VIJAYAWADA, Dec. 30: With the agitation for separate Telangna state gaining momentum, demand for apartments is gradually picking up in and around Vijayawada city.

The builders are hopeful of selling over 600 flats unsold during the last two years due to economic meltdown and liquidity crunch. Nearly 200 builders constructed about 3,000 flats in and around the city when the state witnessed realty boom for nearly one decade. Due to recession over 600 apartments mostly unfinished remained unsold.

The builders were in a helpless condition and waited for nearly two years expecting recovery of the economy. With the Telangana agitation starting unexpectedly three weeks ago, the builders are hopeful of recovering the loss. Most realtors purchased land at high prices during the boom and invested crores of rupees for the construction of commercial complexes and residential apartments.

Mr Gadde Rajling, the president of the Vijayawada Builders Association, said demand for apartments is gradually increasing during the last three weeks with the rise of Telangana agitation. He said many buyers are eagerly inquiring the prices of flats and paying advance. Mr Rajling said settlers in Hyderabad are thinking that it would be safe to invest in their native places or districts. He felt the economy is also gradually recovering during the last few months.

Both Telangana agitation and gradual economic recovery would enable the builders to sell the flats in and around the city. Mr Rajling said the buyers are offering 30 per cent price more now compared to six months ago.

Mr P.V.R. Raju, another builder, said average rate per square feet is Rs 3,000. But, the price varies from one place to the other. He said the builders are adopting wait and see policy and not preparing up to take up new ventures or construction.

Onetime builders are unlikely to take a risk again, said another builder, Mr Vishnu Sureddy, the general secretary of the Builders Association of Vijayawada.

T-ministers not to quit

Hyderabad, Dec. 30: The 13 state ministers hailing from Telangana have reportedly decided to withdraw the resignations, which they submitted to the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi.

A meeting held at the residence of the major irrigation minister, Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, took stock of the situation and decided to follow the high command directive by withdrawing their resignations.

Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the Joint Action Committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Kodandaram reviewed the situation and expressed its happiness over the move to convene talks. The meeting decided to continue the agitations peacefully in Telangana region in view of the talks. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, said JAC representatives also will attend the Delhi talks.

The PCC chief, Mr D. Srinivas, too, is planning to have an interaction with the 13 ministers on Thursday wherein he would convey the serious view taken by the party high command of their actions and instruct them to withdraw their resignations.

Accordingly, the ministers will again write to Mrs Gandhi expressing their satisfaction at the Centre convening a meeting on January 5 to resolve the Telangana issue and will announce their decision to withdraw their resignations.

Mr Lakshmaiah told this correspondent that a final decision on the ministers' resignations will be taken on Thursday. But another minister, Suneetha Laxma Reddy, while speaking to reporters, said the Telangana ministers will continue their non-cooperation till the Centre initiated the process for formation of a separate state.

T-stir pushing investors away from AP, says CM!!

Hyderabad, Dec. 29: The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, on Tuesday presented a gloomy picture of the industrial sector in the state.

He said that several companies were shifting proposed projects to other states or deferring investments because of Telangana troubles.

Mr Rosaiah made these observations after the representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, besides captains of top pharma and IT companies met him to express concern at the state of affairs.

According to the CM, Bharat Forge Limited dropped investment proposals in the state and decided to shift to Gujarat. Peugeot, Kaparo, Lakshmi Mittal, Brandix, J.P. Morgan and Stanley, United Health Group and leading pharma ESAI have all deferred investments.

"The image of Hyderabad as an investment destination has taken a beating because of the violence," he said.

Bulk drug industry alone suffered loss of Rs 500 crore in the past 20 days and the hotel industry suffered losses with reservations dropping by 40 per cent, he said.

Meanwhile, the CM is making a last-minute effort to retain the two-day CII summit which was scheduled to be held on January 21 at Hyderabad but is now being shifted to Chennai.

The Union commerce minister, Mr Anand Sharma, categorically told Mr Rosaiah that the event would be held in the city only if the Union home ministry concurred.

The PM, Dr Manmohan Singh, is scheduled to inaugurate the summit.

Mallika’s onscreen debut was in Lak Tunoo, a music video by Surjit Bindrakhia. She attracted wide notice with her appearance in the 2003 movie Khwahish. In 2004, she starred in Murder, a film inspired by Hollywood’s Unfaithful. She received a nomination for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony for her performance in Murder. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. Since then, Sherawat has been known for her courage to express her opinions in public, as well as because of the reaction to some of her statements. She also made news when she won a small role in a Jackie Chan movie, The Myth; she made a widely publicized appearance at the Cannes Film Festival to promote The Myth. However, her performance in the 2006 film Pyaar Ke Side Effects co-starring Rahul Bose won her praise from around the industry, and the film also garnered decent collections at the box office becoming a moderate success. NEW DELHI: Appearing to put the Telangana issue on the backburner, the Centre said tonight that the situation in Andhra Pradesh has "altered"

since the announcement on creation of a separate state.

Wide-ranging consultations would now be held with all political parties
and groups in the state, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said in a statement, adding that the Centre will take "steps to involve all concerned in the process".

Recalling his December nine statement in which he had announced that the process of forming Telangana would be initiated, he said that since then the situation in Andhra Pradesh has altered and that "a large number of political parties are divided on the issue".

Capping a fortnight of intense campaign by MPs of Telangana and non-Telangana regions, Chidambaram called a press conference at short notice and read out a four paragraph statement but took no questions.

He said the Centre made the statement on December nine on receipt of minutes of a meeting of all political parties convened by Chief Minister K Rosaiah in which a "consensus" emerged on the formation of a separate state of Telangana.

Chidambaram said, meanwhile, it is necessary that peace and harmony are restored in Andhra Pradesh and the state government is allowed to focus on governance and development.

"The Central government appeals to the people of the different regions of Andhra Pradesh and to all political parties and students to withdraw their agitations and maintain peace, harmony and brotherhood," he said.

The indication of Chidambaram's statement came after a meeting of Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, Chidambaram, A K Antony, M Veerappa Moily and Political Secretary to Congress President Ahmed Patel.

A statement was prepared and the draft was taken to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Later, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave final touches and Chidambaram made it public.

The December nine statement was made at the height of the fast-unto-death protest launched by TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao who withdrew the agitation on the 11th day.

Ever since, MPs and MLAs of Coastal Andhra and Rayalseema region protested vehemently and carried out a campaign with almost daily meetings with central leaders and ministers demanding a statement that the creation of Telangana would not be initiated without a consensus.

Reflecting the regional divide in the state, MPs and MLAs cutting across party lines in Telangana region also mounted a counter-campaign urging the Centre not to backtrack and warned of severe repercussions.

The period was also marked by violence in non-Telangana regions against the bifurcation proposal.

The state Cabinet was divided on regional lines and over 135 MLAs belonging Congress, TDP and Praja Rajyam quit their membership of the Assembly. Some MPs of Congress and TDP also resigned. But none of these resignations have been accepted.

On Monday, a delgation of non-Telangana MPs met the Prime Minister and said later that he had assured them that government would come out with a statement to "make everything in order" in the state.

HYDERABAD: Alleging that the central government had betrayed the people of Telangana region, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) Wednesday called

for a 48-hour shutdown in the region and said all MPs and legislators irrespective of party affiliation would quit enmasse.

An angry TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao told reporters that the government had put the Telangana issue on the backburner. "People of Telangana have been once again betrayed. The statement has no clarity and no time frame," he said.

"How long will it take for the formation of Telangana state. Another 50 years? How many more people have to die," he asked.

The TRS president, who was accompanied by leaders of the Congress and Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) legislators, appealed to the people, especially the youth and students to be peaceful during protests.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, also announced that all public representatives from village level bodies to the parliament from the region would quit enmasse. "We all will come under one banner and line up to submit our resignations," he said.

KCR said the Joint Action Committee of all parties and groups fighting for Telangana state would be formed Thursday to decide the future course of action.

He warned the state government against adopting double standards while dealing with protests in Telangana and other regions.

"Even before Mr. Chidambaram (home minister) made the statement, police imposed prohibitory orders in Telangana districts but in other regions there were no such orders and every party was allowed to protest in the manner they liked," he said.

"Rosaiah should withdraw these orders otherwise you will face a volatile situation. You will have no moral authority to continue as your government will be reduced to minority after we submit our resignations," he said.

The central government softened its stance on the formation of separate Telangana state Wednesday with Chidambaram stressing that there was need to hold wide-ranging consultations with all political parties in Andhra Pradesh to reach a consensus on the issue.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also called for a shutdown in Telangana, comprising Hyderabad and nine other districts, on Thursday. Student groups in various districts have also called for a shutdown.

Tension prevailed around Osmania University campus as students came out on streets raising slogans against the government. They damaged 10 buses and shopkeepers downed shutters in Tarnaka area near the campus.

Students of Nizam colleges and activists of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also began protests in different parts of Hyderabad.

ABVP has called for closure of all educational institutions in the region. As tension mounted, state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) stopped bus services in some areas.

Even before Chidambaram made the statement, pro-Telangana students clashed with the police in Warangal town and laid siege to the offices of the Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Raising slogans of "Jai Telangana", students of Kakatiya University clashed with police deployed on the university campus. They demanded that all the legislators, irrespective of their political affiliations, resign.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday dropped broad hints of a fresh move in a day or two to cool tempers and normalise the

situation in Andhra Pradesh.

At a meeting with a group of Congress MPs from the Rayalseema and coastal regions of the state, Singh reportedly assured them of a new initiative by the Centre to clear doubts.

"The PM told us that a new decision is likely in a day or two," K S Rao, a senior party MP and leader of the delegation, later told reporters. Singh told the MPs that he and his cabinet colleagues were going to take up the matter for discussion.

Singh's remarks were seen in political circles as an indication that the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) would review the Andhra situation on Tuesday.

Rao said his expectation was the Centre would come out with a statement that no decision about bifurcation of the state would be made unilaterally. He said that since a unanimous resolution in the state assembly endorsing a new Telangana state was a remote possibility, the Centre should make efforts to restore normalcy.

He said that since home minister P Chidambaram's midnight statement backing the formation of the Telangana state carved out of Andhra, the situation in the state had deteriorated badly. "Everything is at a standstill," he said.

Rao said that the dozen-odd MPs urged the PM to make a fresh announcement to bring back normalcy and cool the tempers. They told Singh that the Centre should reassure everyone that without consulting all the stakeholders no decision would be made.

The PM, according to Rao, agreed that the situation was grave and assured them of the Centre taking a close look at the development.

Story

Sasi (Jagapati Babu) and Sailaja (Priyamani) are good friends during their post-graduation time. They think they are in love. But Sasi’s ideology about love irritates Sailaja and both of them separate their ways. Sasi settles as a professor in Harvard University. He comes to Hyderabad to look out for a suitable girl. He then realises that Sailaja works as a principal in a women’s college and she is unmarried too. The rest of the story is all about how Sasi makes Sailaja fall in love with him again.

Artists Performance

Jagapathi Babu looks very handsome in the role of a charmer. Priyamani is gorgeous in this movie and oozes natural oomph though she wore traditional dresses. Hamsa Nandini is neat in a small role. CVL makes a mark with his nice diction. Brahmanandam’s role is partly entertaining. Sunil and Ali are routine. Madhu Sharma sizzled in a cameo. Dharmavarapu Subramanyam has some nice dialogues.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Pravarakhyudu is a separation-reunion story of lovers. These kinds of separation/reunion stories should be supported by strong and convincing reason for separation. The reason of separation in the movie is flimsy and hero character never bothers to find out what happened to the heroine after the separation. When hero starts approaching heroine again after a big gap, heroine shows forced restraint without bothering to know what he is trying to convey. Madan who has strong writing abilities came up with a few interesting scenes. But lack of engaging screenplay and too many unnecessary scenes mar the narration. I liked the way heroine imagines the things visually and director used a nice technique there.

Other departments: Music by MM Keeravani is an asset. All songs are good and background music is excellent. Except for temple song, none of the other songs are placed in right situations. I liked the way he used ‘vivaha bhojanambu’ tune for ‘you wanna taste this’ episode (Jagapati Babu cooking). Dialogues are good in parts. But too many dialogues made this movie a verbose film. Cinematography by Surender Reddy is excellent. Art direction for the temple set is good. The quality of postproduction of the movie (color grading) is superb. Pravarakhyudu is one of the very few Telugu films made with top technical standards in this year. The credit must go to the producer Ganesh Indukuri who blindly believed the director and spent enormous amount of money on production and post-production activities (including a costly temple set and African safari). The producer has painted the entire city green with the posters of Pravarakhyudu (if you travel by PV Narasimha Rao’s 12 km express highway, you see only posters of this movie).

Analysis: You will find the descriptions in novels very useful to imagine and get interested in story. What happens if the same descriptions are converted into dialogues and rendered in a feature film? You will end up finding the entire movie verbose. That is the primary problem with the narration of Pravarakhyudu movie. First half of the movie is little boring. Second half is better. The plus points are Jagapati Babu and production values. On the flipside, screenplay is not engaging enough and narration lacks substance. Despite of the above mentioned flaws, Pravarakhyudu still offers something for family crowds.

Story

hitra (Genelia) is a loner and she comes to Araku seeking employment as a teacher in a kids school. Krishna (Arun) is an aspiring director. He comes to Araku to do trail shoot and complete script for his debut film. Local Circle Inspector (Prakash Raj) is a friendly cop. Chitra has an uncomfortable history as she spent a year in a mental asylum. Chitra and Krishna become good friends. While peeping through her binoculars, Chitra notices a murder where she could clearly see the victim girl. She reports it to the police and they find no evidence of murder. With a history at mental problem, Chitra doubts that her past mental condition is catching up again. The rest of the story is all about whether the murder she saw was real or just a hallucination?

Artists Performance

This movie belongs to Genelia and she does well. Tamil boy Arun did the role of male lead in this movie and he is adequate. Sharwanand seems to have dubbed the voice of Arun. Prakash Raj is very good. Shafi is nice though he seems to have gone overboard during latter part of the movie. Raghu Babu is the only actor in this movie who provides popular (routine) comedy. The guys who did the roles of buddies of hero are good.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: The title cards of the movie start with the photo of Alfred Hitchcock (the master of suspense movies). And the story of the movie belongs to the Alfred Hitchcock genre of the movies (closest one being 'Rear Windown'). Heroine who has a history of hallucinations witnesses at a murder. She thinks that it is real and others think that it is a hallucination. The entire story is all about if its real or katha (imagination). Debutant director Srinivas Raga comes up with an interesting story idea, but falters in screenplay department. Direction is adequate. One of the routine concepts we see in all thrillers is that the protagonist stays in a huge house and most of the vital scenes taking place during night time with lights off. Katha film is no exception in taking the routine route. Katha is also a story of ‘who dunnit’. Hence director tries to turn the needle or suspicion towards innocent characters to divert our attention. .

Other departments: Dialogues by Gangaraju Gunnam are excellent. I liked the way heroine innocently asks hero if he failed 10th class after he declared that he is going to direct movies. I also liked the title cards sequence and how it is linked with the character of hero later. Music by SK Balachandran is adequate. Cinematography by Andrew is fine.

Analysis: First half of the movie is quite nice. I loved the way all characters are introduced it the movie and how the entire scheme of the story is set up in the first half. Second half of the movie is a little let-down with slow narration and redundant sequences. Whenever I watch any thriller, I ask myself a basic question. Why can’t the protagonist stay in a small room and mingle with people. Plus points of the movie are Genelia and basic story idea. The negative points are second half and redundant scenes of projecting hallucination. We expect a better and intellectually stimulating movie from the banner of Just Yellow that produced films like Aithe and Anukokunda Oka Roju.

Story

Satyavati (Ileana) is the daughter of a rich and idealistic landlord/factionist in Rayalaseema. She is brought up in Europe for the past 15 years. She visits her home town after a long gap and she is attacked by the rival factionist. Munna (Vishnu Manchu) comes from nowhere and rescues her. Then he settles in her house as a worker and earns the love and trust of all Satyavati’s family members. He loves Satyavati. But Satyavati’s father wants to marry off to another guy. Just about when the marriage is going to happen, it is revealed that Satyavati has a lover (Venkat) from Europe and she uses Munna to help her escape to Europe. Just when Satyavati goes to Europe, it is revealed that Munna is none but a mafia kingpin from Bangkok called Saleem and Satyavati lover’s brother is none but a dreaded European don called OJo a.k.a. Ogiraja Jogayya (Mohan Babu). The rest of the story is all about how Saleem wins Satyavati over with his one-side love and his encounters with OJo.

Artists Performance

Vishnu Manchu: Vishnu Manchu has toned down his body and looking stylish and lean in his new Avatar. He improved tremendously in all departments compared his earlier movies. He worked really hard in dances and it shows up. He used different Telugu dialects with good effect. And the credit for his looks should go to his wife Veranica who did the wardrobe and styling for Vishnu. Vishnu looks dashing in this movie.

Ileana: It’s no wonder that YVS Chowdary said in audio function that he loves Ileana manasikamga. Ileana is excellent in the film. All fans of Ileana (including me) are bound to have a whale of time watching Ileana on the big screen in Saleem movie. Her perfect figure/physique was aesthetically exploited by YVS Chowdary. I haven’t seen so many close-up shots on midriff area on any other heroine in any other film. There are two songs dedicated to Ileana and the last song (I wanna talk to you) is a treat with Ileana exposing the most of it.

Mohan Babu: Mohan Babu comes up with another fabulous and entertaining performance in Saleem. He did the role of a comedy villain and he is at his best when he says ‘Boom Boom Bhulak’. He excelled while uttering the dialogue – ‘lopala em jarigina, bayata positive talk cheppali’. His song with Kaveri Jha must be the best song in his career. He is wonderful in the song.

Others: Kaveri Jha is dazzling as a lady who makes Mohan Babu a bakra in the movie. Her sexy physique is also tantalizingly exploited by YVS Chowdary. Ali is partly entertaining as a Sangeet consultant. Napoleon is alright as noble father. Venkat fits bill as a lover without substance.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Story (prepared by YVS and developed by Gopi Mohan and BVS Ravi) of the movie is perplexed. It has a little of resemblance to the story line of Namaste London. And parts of screenplay is adapted from movies like Ready (Kaveri becoming a character of Mohan Babu’s imaginative story), Wanted (curving bullets), Tashan (Don Anil Kapoor learning English from a sexy teacher), Gudumba Shankar (choreographer for wedding), Arya (one-side love) etc. There is no honesty in story and the love projected in the movie. The screenplay (Gopi Mohan and BVS Ravi) leaves a lot to be desired. Direction is good in parts, but eccentric most of the time. YVS Chowdary seems to have concentrated more on getting a rick look to the movie than the working on the basic act of storytelling. Money should be spent on good story. But stories should not be prepared to spend money. Saleem appears like a story prepared to spend good amount of money to capture Europe and Bangkok.

Other departments: Music by Sandeep Chowta is good. The best songs in the film are Mohan Babu’s song followed by Ileana’s pre-climax song. Dialogues by Chintapally Ramana are clichéd (for example, saying o pani aipoyindi after killing a guy). Cinematography by Ram Prasad is of top class. He captured lush locales of swiss in a beautiful way and he has shown Vishnu and Ileana excellently. Graphics work should have been better (especially the scene in second half where Vishnu is hanged upside down and bangkok flight/runway episode). Editing needs to be crisp (the runtime is almost three hours). Production values by Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and Big Pictures are superb.

Analysis: Saleem is an example of what happens when the director

loses his grip on story and goes on showcasing rich production values. Saleem’s first problem is the perplexed story line (YVS Chowdary, Gopi Mohan and BVS Ravi). The second problem of the film is the screenplay (YVS Chowdary, Gopi Mohan and BVS Ravi). One wonders why Mohan Babu accepted to produce such a feeble and flimsy story by spending 23 crores of budget. First half of the movie is adequate. The interval bang is interesting. Second half is a complete letdown except for Mohan Babu’s comedy and Mohan Babu’s song. There is a bit of vulgarity in the movie (especially jana bethedu dialogues for the stats and intimate parts of the heroine). It’s high time for YVS Chowdary to concentrate more on story and less time on other aspects like concentrating on heroine and big budgets. On a whole, Saleem disappoints.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao sought to step up pressure on the Centre, stating that more than 100 MLAs from Telangana region, cutting across their party lines, were prepared to quit if the Centre backtracked on its decision to carve out separate state.

Addressing the party workers at Telangana Bhavan, KCR said the Telangana MPs from all parties were also ready with “resignation letters in their pockets” in the event of volte face by the union government, he said.

“Do not test the patience of Telangana people. We are ready to sacrifice our lives but will not compromise on our goal,” KCR said. He warned that there would be a “bloodbath” if the government went back on its word. “Telangana is a land of sacrifices and struggles. We are prepared to sacrifice four lakh lives to achieve our statehood goal,” he said.

Making it clear that there would be no compromise on Hyderabad being the capital of Telangana, KCR warned “If anyone staked claim over Hyderabad, we will slit their tongues. We will not part with Hyderabad.”

He demanded that the Centre take steps to complete the process of bifurcation without any further delay.

The Centre is likely to defend its decision, saying that it did not amount to taking back the promise on Telangana, but in the wake of similar demands from across the country such as Gorkhaland, Bundelkhand, Vidarbha and Poorvanchal, only a Second SRC would be the right solution.

“This is what the Centre meant by commencing the process for formation of Telangana. The process is through either resolution in the assembly or through constitution of a second SRC,” sources said. In a bid to appease the Telangana agitators, the Centre might propose the Deputy Chief Minister post to a Telangana leader. “A specific time frame would be fixed for the SRC, so that it would satisfy the Telanganites,” sources said.

Lagadapati escapes as 200 cops watch

Dec. 20: The fasting Vijayawada MP, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal, escaped from the Vijayawada Government Hospital in full view of almost 200 police personnel and dozens of admirers.

The MP, whose fast entered the sixth day on Sunday, came to the ground floor of the hospital from his first floor ward, boarded a Qualis vehicle and drove out at about 10.45 pm. Witnesses said five more vehicles followed it.

Mr Rajagopal was expected to be shifted to a corporate hospital at Mangalagiri, 15 km from Vijayawada, and seemed to have taken advantage of the uncertainty. No one stopped the convoy as he drove out.

It was only when the convoy did not reach the Mangalagiri hospital at 11.30 pm that police realised the MP had given them the slip. Amidst allegations that he had been allowed to escape, the police sounded a red alert for Mr Rajagopal and launched a hunt to find him.

The government hospital is located on the national highway that leads to Visakhapatnam on one side and to Hyderabad on the other. Police searched the hospital as well, thinking he could be hiding there, but could not find the MP.

Mr Rajagopal had been shifted to the government hospital on Thursday and the government had refused to shift him to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) fearing disturbances.

He had vociferously protested the “rude behaviour of the police” and the “biased attitude” of the government against the united Andhra agitation in the coastal districts and Rayalaseema. He had refused to take medicine and call off his fast.

Meanwhile, additional security forces are being rushed to the districts as the condition of elected representatives who are on a fast-unto-death for a united Andhra Pradesh is turning critical.

The Hyderabad police commissioner, Mr B. Prasada Rao, said, “We have no instructions from the government so far to shift the leaders who are on hunger strike to Nims. There are 30 platoons of additional forces available in the city. We are prepared to thwart any untoward incidents.”

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) asked the government to consider shifting MLC Mr Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, and MLA, Mr D. Umamaheswara Rao, Nims.

Dr N. Suneetha, daughter of Mr Vivekananda Reddy, in an appeal to the SHRC, had said that her father is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and requires medical care. She said there was no facility in Kadapa and he should be shifted to Nims.

A student identified as Mr Chandrasekhar who set himself on fire protesting the arrest of Mr Vivekananda Reddy succumbed to burns at Ruia Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Kadapa. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board member, Mr Ch. Bhaskara Reddy, who is on hunger strike in jail, was shifted to Rims, Tirupati. He was earlier arrested on the charge of being involved in violence.

In another case, a lawyer, Mr B. Venkateswara Rao complained to the SHRC that Krishna and Vijayawada administration is indifferent to the health of Mylavaram MLA Mr D. Umamaheswara Rao who started his fast-unto-death on December 13.

“Mr Umamaheswara Rao may slip into coma and the circumstances warrant he be shifted from Vijayawada hospital to Nims in Hyderabad,” Mr B.V. Rao said. Responding to the petition, the SHRC gave directions to consider the plea of shifting Mr Umamaheswara Rao to Nims. On Saturday, Mr Rao was admitted to the intensive care unit at Vijayawada General Hospital, but when his blood pressure began to fluctuate he was moved to the NRI general hospital near Mangalgiri in Guntur district on Sunday.

Together with him, the former mayor, Ms P. Anuradha, and a Telugu Desam activist, Mr Papaiah Chowdary, were also shifted. Mr Umamaheswara Rao has refused to call off the stir till the Union government scraps the decision for a separate state of Telangana. The TD is angry that the MLA and the other two leaders have not been admitted to Nims. The government has bluntly refused their demand citing law and order problems.

The MLC and the TD leader, Mr. Y. Babu Rajendra Prasad, accused the government of bias. He said that the state government had shifted Telangana Rastra Samiti chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to Nims when his condition deteriorated, but was ignoring the health of TD leaders agitating in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

Story
Parag Dixit (Neil Nitin Mukesh) is a savvy executive from a top firm. He has a sexy girl friend (Mughda Godse), swanky car and suave life style. He falls in to the plot laid by his friends and lands up in jail on the allegations of possessing heavy amount of narcotics. He will be sent to judicial custody and is kept at a jail. He hopes of getting bail because his girlfriend goes all out to make sure that he is out of jail by hiring a top lawyer. The rest of the story is all about the bitter experiences in jail and how he come in terms with it.

Actors:
Neil Nitin Mukesh looks vulnerable in the movie and he suited the role of a man who becomes a victim in unforeseen circumstances. Manoj Bajpayee who is know for eccentric antics did a role that has needs of underplaying. And he is good. Mughda Godse is neat. Arya Babbar is excellent in the role of Kabir. Kaveri Jha is adequate. Atul Kulakarni is impressive in the role of a lawyer.

Technical departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is treated in biographical manner with hero not trying to do anything heroic. There is one loophole in the movie which marred the entire viewing experience. When hero is taken into the custody, he was not holding any revolver and he was not running away from the cops like his friend did. And neither hero nor his girlfriend tried to clarify it through the lawyer. The audience know about it and they still have to sit through the entire movie till Atul Kulkarni explains the same in the final hearing. There is a difference between being innocent and being dumb. The character of hero is treated more like a dumb character than an innocent character. Hence the characterizations are weak. There are couple of things I liked in the movie like how lawyers mercilessly extract money from the clients and the one moment where hero refuses to runaway when he gets a chance. Direction of the film is adequate, but screenplay is not interesting. There seem to be a few references from POW jail break films from Hollywood.

Other technical departments: A film like this doesn't require any songs. Hence all the songs appear irrelevant. Dialogues are realistic. Cinematography is nice. Art direction is good and a jail set it erected for this movie in Ramoji Film City.

Analysis: Jail movie is a slow-paced one with boring moments most of the time. It is neither a commercial subject, nor an artistic film. However, the last 15 minutes of the movie is better. There are two types of Jail films. One is of commercial type where Jail break happens. This kind of film provides thrill. The other one the type where they show the journey and experiences of jail inmates. There will be lot of heart-touching content and these kind of films have human triumph towards the climax. Only film that managed both thrill and human triumph is 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Madhur Bhandarkar's JAIL does neither give you thrill not touches your heart. A slight disappointment from Madhur Bhandarkar.

Story

Chandram (Srikanth) is a cab driver and a honest man. His wife is Kalyani (Meera Jasmine). They are a childless couple. When Kalyani gets tested positive for pregnancy, the doc tells him that she needs to be operated to avoid complications. The operation would cost around 8 lacs. Being a middle class man, Chandram doesn't have that much money. That is when he comes across an accident on railway track where the body of an unidentified woman is found. He also finds a bag with lots of money beside the corpse. his friend advise him to tell the cops that the dead woman is his wife. He gets the postmortem done and manages the cops and doctor. He finds out that the dead girl is Ramya (Sada). Parents of Ramya come to know about it and ask chandram to do the final rites as they thought that he is her husband (she elopes from house with her boyfriend). The story takes turn when Ramya returns at the time of last rites. The rest of the story is about the mystery behind Ramya and how Chandram manages with two wives at a time.

Artists Performance

Srikanth is at his best as always in this movie. Meera Jasmine put on a bit of weight, but is good in acting department. Sada did a glamorous role in this movie and she is adequate. Telangana Sakuntala is good. Krishna Bhagawan provides some relief. Raghubabu is not good in this movie as his characterization is irritating. Apoorva did a vamp character who is more interested in cleavage show. The comedy thread between Brahmanandam and kovai Sarala is hackneyed. Sunil is wasted in a role of investigating officer. MS Narayana is okay. Ali's character is also uninteresting.

Technical departments

Screenplay - directon: This film belongs to typical Priyadarshan comedy genre that is linked to a crime element. The director tried to mix comedy and sentiment in this movie. The taking and treatment of the movie is mainly targeted at the masses of B and C centers. Hence there is over-dramatized sentiment and over-the-top vulgarity in comedy. Screenplay of the movie runs on predictable lines. Direction is best suited for the hardcore masses.

Other departments: Music composed by MM Sreelekha has followed the style of S Raj Kumar. Dialogues are adequate. Cinematography by Vijay C Kumar is average. Dialogues are fair. Editing should have been crisp.

Analysis: Director Srinivasa Reddy who made a name for himself in comedy department by churning out comedy films on low budget seem to have got carried away with this movie. This film has age-old formula, completely predictable screenplay and inane direction. A aa e ee is mainly aimed towards the masses in B and C centers and it caters to their sensibilities. It is a disappointing movie for others.

Kurradu Movie Review !! Varun Sandesh, Neha Sarma!!

Story

kurradu Varun (Varun Sandesh) is a youngster from a middle class family. He is passionate about bikes and it's his dream to own a bike. Varun completes his graduation and bides his time on roaming around with friends and he blames his father for his failure as he didn't buy a bike for him. Hurt with the callous remark of his son, the father gives 70,000 rupees (which he kept aside for his daughter's marriage) to his son Varun. Varun buys a bike and uses it positively to get a job of recovery agent for a bank. It's a prerequisite to have a bike in order to do that job. His bike is stolen during one night and later he traces the stolen bike and realizes that it is with a gang of dope smugglers. The rest of the story is all about how he recovers his bike against all odds.

Artists Performance

kurradu Varun Sandesh has improved a lot in acting and dialogue delivery compared to his earlier movies. However, his small-framed body didn't suit the action sequences in the movie. Neha Sharma definitely looks better than what we have seen in her debut film Chiruta movie and she is adequate. Jai Venu entertains with his funny English as an auto driver. Ravi Shankar (Bommali fame dubbing artist) did the role of a gangster and he is pretty good. The guys who did the role of his brother and bullet are impressive. Tanikella Bharani is extremely good in sentimental scenes. Ali is wasted in a separate comedy track. MS Narayana's single scene cameo is just okay.

kurraduStory: Kurradu is a remake of a Tamil blockbuster titled 'Polladhavan' (which means mondodu). This story has roots in Italian black and white classic Ladri di biciclette (Bicycle Thief). Bicycle Thief movie is about recession times where the livelihood of an entire family depends on the guy whose job is to stick movie posters to walls. It is absolutely necessary to have cycle without which the entire family would be deprived of bread and butter. A Telugu movie titled Ride (jeevi review here) with similar theme was recently released in Telugu. In that movie also they have shown the owning bike as a necessity than a passion. But in this movie, owning bike is more of a passion than a a dire need.

kurraduScreenplay - directon: A story of this type needs tremendous screenplay and gripping narration from the director. Though the director handled sentimental scenes and establishment of the villain well, he couldn't narrate the story in an arresting manner. Screenplay of the film is poor. There is no tempo in the movie and the narration doesn't make us eagerly look forward about what would happen next.

kurraduOther departments: Music by Achu is good to ears, but the picturization and placement of songs should have been better. Cinematography by Sarvesh Murari creates a mood to the movie. Dialogue are adequate. However, the quality of photography should be rich in the movie and the slow-motion scenes in the climax are poor. Stunts in the movie are realistic. We expect better production values and quality post production for a film from a big banner like Anandi Arts.

kurraduAnalysis: First half of the movie is adequate and second half is little boring. Kurradu is a film about the passion of a youngster towards his newly bought motorcycle. Such movies should be handled with dexterity and sensitivity. The filmmakers could able to remake the scenes, but couldn't translate the much required soul in to the Telugu version. We have to wait and see how it works at the box office.

Raviteja’s new venture with Bellamkonda

Producer Bellamkonda Suresh is all set to create a sensation with each successive project. His latest film “Ride’ was proved a hit. A few days ago, he had announced a film “Bhishma’ with Balakrishna as hero under the direction of Ramesh Varma.

Recently, he bagged the remake rights of a successful Tamil film “Nadodigal’ by paying a huge sum. The film with friendship in its backdrop with Sasikumar, Vizharu, Bharani, Anan and Neha in the lead roles was proved a hit and it was directed by Samutirakani.

According to reliable information, Raviteja is roped in as hero for this film, while another role in the film was reportedly offered to Allari Naresh. It may be mentioned here that the producer had already announced another film with Raviteja and Krishnavamsi. If, “Nadodigal’ remake goes to sets earlier,the film with Krishnavamsi might be delayed a little further. Chances are bright that the director of the original may wield the megaphone for the Telugu version also.

Story

village lo vinyakudu Karthik (Krishnudu) runs a play school in Hyderabad and his girl friend Kavya is a doctor. Kavya goes to her village Rajolu to stay with her combined family to attend the engagement of her cousin. Kavya's father is a retired army major and he is very strict. Kavya tells to everybody in the family except her father that her boyfriend is visiting. And she also doesn't about him being fat. The rest of the story is about how the family members react when they finds out that Kavya's boyfriend is on the heavier side and how Karthik wins over the entire family including Kavya's father with his pure hearted charm.
Artists Performance

village lo vinyakudu Krishnudu who fitted in the role of Vinayakudu very well did a character that is just an extension. His innocent looks and slow dialogue delivery suited the role. He did well. But he should work more on his expressions in the close-up shots. Saranya Mohan is cute, but didn't suit the role well as there is no chemistry between them. Rao Ramesh is adequate though he looked little younger to play the role of heroine's father. He tried to act like Prakash Raj in few scenes. Popular novel writer Yandamuri Veerendranath did the role of heroine's father friend who is obsessed with puzzles. Dr. Bharat Reddy donned the role of a prospective groom and he is alright.

village lo vinyakuduStory: The story of the movie has slight inspiration from 'Meet The Parents'. Meet the parents is about a girl introducing her guy to her father who is a former CIA agent. The entire movie runs around father trying to prove that the guy is wrong and the guy outsmarting heroine's father. Hero being a male nurse is the conflict point between heroine's father and hero in the English movie. Guy being fat is the conflict point between hero and heroine's father in VLV. This story has potential in it if handled well though we had seen similar treated stories of hero staying in heroine's house and convincing him since DDLJ.

village lo vinyakuduScreenplay - directon: Direction by Sai Kiran Adivi is adequate in parts. Some of the comedy scenes are well written (Golimar episode, health check-up results, bongulo chicken etc). He handled some of the scenes in first half well, but didn't show the required finesse in the second half. Sai Kiran should have taken more care in screenplay department in the second half. The pace of the movie is slow and climax appear hurried. He couldn't bring out the romance between the lead pair and should be commended for coming out with a clean and healthy film without any vulgarity.

village lo vinyakuduOther departments: Music by Manikant Kadri is good. There are good melodies in the movie. Cinematography by Ramana Salva is neat and locations chosen are fresh. Some of the dialogues are funny. Editing should have been better. Producer Mahi has capitalized on the success of Vinayakudu by doing a sequel on a shoe-string budget and making it break-even before the release itself. However, he should have put more emphasis on quality of filmmaking and quality of post-production. The entire movie appears like its been shot in hurry with inadequate budget. And the post-production lacks the quality of multiplex films. The forced advertising of Reliance Mobile and Kalamandir mars the viewing pleasure (people spend money to watch movie, not to watch forced advertisements). It is a good effort by the first time producer in terms of marketing and business strategy. But he should remember that content is the king and these kind of marketing strategies will work wonders if the content is good.

village lo vinyakuduAnalysis: First half of the movie is adequate with nice humor. The movie runs out of steam in the second half. The plus points of the movie are Vinayakudu's image and good marketing strategies. The negative points are lack of holistic perspective in direction and slow-paced narration. One should appreciate the filmmakers for making a film that does have neither vulgarity nor violence. We have to wait and see how the family viewers of A centers receive this movie.

Jagapati Babu said, "I am not of Pravarkhudu type in real life. I feel happy to work with Keeravani. I though that this movie might not work out with respect to business as the producers spent money that is beyond my market. But buyers are coming forward and encouraging the movie. Producers kept lot of confidence on the product. I hope that this movie will be a big hit."

Madan said, "We took only the characteristic of Pravarakhudu and applied it to the character of Jagapati Babu in this movie. One may call such a person with Pravarakhyudu characteristics as a gentleman. We are saying that each love stories is different from one another through this movie. This movie is about finding the pure love. Keeravani worked like a new music director for this movie."

Balakrishna's film at a brisk pace in Hyderabad

Simha, a Boyapati Sreenu-directed film, is now in Hyderabad. Nandamuri Balakrishna's prestigious venture sees him pairing opposite buxom Namitha and 'Ullasanga Uthsahanga' girl Sneha Ullal.

Owing to the Star Night on November 7, the film's shooting has been cancelled and it will resume again after the event. Later, it will be canned in Visakhapatnam.

Namitha is acting opposite a big star like Balakrishna after several years. Last time, she acted in Gemini with Victory Venkatesh. Shifting base to Tamil films, she bounced back again after her role in Billa. She has at last got a performance-oriented role in Simha.

Sneha Ullal, a relatively newcomer to Tollywood, was seen in 'Neenu Meeku Telusa', and it is the first time she is seen in a big star's film.

Allu Arjun's latest movie 'Arya 2' was launched on the night of 1st November in Rock Heights, Madhapur. SS Rajamouli, Nagababu, VV Vinayak, Dil Raju, KL Narayana, Maganti Babu, seenu Vytla, Meher Ramesh, Krish, Varun Sandesh, Aryan Rajesh, Prabhas, Gangaraju Gunnam, Gemini Kiran, Arjuna Raju, KC Sekhara Babu, RD Rajasekhar etc attended the funtion along with the cast and crewmembers.

The function started off after a few minor glitches. Devi Sri Prasad performed for a song. Shraddha Das joined him to croon Mr. Perfect song. Allu Arjun, Navadeep, Kajal Agarwal and Shraddha Das danced on the stage for Mr. Perfect song.

Prabhas and Nagababu jointly released the audio CD and Rajamouli and VV Vinayak jointly received it. Dil Raju, Maganti Babu, Seenu Vytla, Varun Sandesh, Aryan Rajesh and Meher Ramesh launched a song each.

Navadeep said that he is doing a normal character (other than main lead) for the first time in his career.

Shraddha Das thanked the entire cast and crewmembers.

The long-awaited film in the combination of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas has reached Hyderabad. In a huge set erected at Vikarabad, some scenes are being canned. Arundhathi star Anushka is pairing opposite Mahesh in the film.

According to news reports, Prince is playing a chauffeur in the film and Anushka a rich brat. As the last film of Mahesh and Trivikram, Atadu, was a blockbuster hit, their fans have huge expectations this time around too. 'Koffi Bar' is the film being made by popular filmmaker Geetha Krishna. He had been away for the movie industry for some time and he is making a comeback with this flick. According to sources, this flick is a trilingual and is being made in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Speaking about the movie, the director said that the movie is 50% complete. The canning seems to be going on at Hyderabad at the moment. The movie stars the talented hero Shashank and a pretty girl Biyanka Desai in the lead.

It is expected to be a youthful entertainer and at the same time, there is a strong message to the audience in it.

Geetha Krishna who has made films like Kokila, Keechurallu and Sankeerthana has now embarked upon a new film. The film titled Koffi Bar has so far completed 40 per cent of the shooting. Geetha Krishna is also the producer and is also scoring the music for the film. The film will be distributed in the US by Adlabs.

The film is a good entertainer and will look at the present day situation and will also touch upon terrorism. The film stars many newcomers. Girish Karnad and Om Puri will be among the lead star cast.

Story

Bendu Appa Rao (Allari Naresh) is a RMP doctor in a village. He is known for funny ways of curing people and earning more money than what he deserves. He dupes people to earn money so that he could send that money to his sister who is tortured by her cruel husband for money. He falls in love with a rich girl Padma (Kamna Jetmalani). At one point of time, a dieing person gives Appa Rao gives his earnings of 15 lacs and asks him to pass it on to his family. But Appa Rao couldn't locate that family. The rest of the story is all about what happens when he finds the family at a later point of time.

Artists Performance

Bendu Appa Rao character is like a cakewalk for Allari Naresh. Allari Naresh has invented his own style of comedy and this movie perfectly complement his strengths. Kamna Jetmalani seems to have got some cosmetic work done to her nose and she is looking very glamorous in this movie. She did well in acting department. Meghana Raj is adequate. Srinivas Reddy and Uttej did the roles of hero's friends and they generated comedy. The characters of Suman Setty, Raghubabu, Dharmavarapu, Kondavalasa, Krishna Bhagawan and Ali are good. Ahuti Prasad steals the show again as heroine's father who is excessively fond of being a great host. Telangana Sakuntala is adequate.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - directon: The basic story of the movie is old-fashioned, but balances comedy and sentiment well. Screenplay of the film is neatly woven. You can see vintage EVV in this movie in terms of comedy and entertainment value. The comedy timing is very good. Most of the comedy is village-based. All the characters are written well to serve the entertainment purpose. However the entire story is predictable.

Other departments: Dialogues in the movie deserves an applause for the comedy quotient. Music by Koti resembles his music for EVV movies in 90's. Cinematography is adequate. Production values by Suresh Productions banner are decent.

Analysis: EVV seem to have found his vintage comic timing in this movie. He could able to generate comedy well in this movie, though he had done innumerable comedy flicks of this nature in 1990's. Offlate, he lost touch with the pulse of audiences. With Bendu Appa Rao, EVV proves that he is still in the race. The plus points of the movie are Allari Naresh and comedy. On the flip side, the entire movie is like an old-fashioned one. On a whole, Allari Naresh comes up with another decent comedy flick after his last hit Blade Babji. This movie has enough potential to make money at box office for it's entertainment value. You may watch it for entertainment.

Story

Chotu (Prabhas) is born to poor parents. A beggars mafia guy steals Chotu to make him a beggar. Chotu grows up as an informer to the cops. And he calls himself as 'bounty hunter'. His duty is to catch the criminals on behalf of police and earn some money from the cops for doing their duty. He falls in love with a guitar music teacher Sameera (Kangana Raunat) and her brother happens to be a mafia guy whom Chotu is entrusted to nab. Johnny (Sonu Sood) is a mafia kingpin in the city. The rest of the story is all about what happens when Johnny encounters Chotu and when Chotu has multiple responsibility of apprehending and saving the same guy.

Artists Performance

Prabhas's characterization in this movie is an extention of his character in Puri Jagan's Bujjigadu - made in Chennai. Prabhas is adorable with his mass language with godavari dialect. He is charming with his carefree demeanor. Kangana Raunat who looked fabulous in Hindi flicks like Gangster and Fashion seemed out of place in this Telugu film. She is just average. Sonu Sood walks away with honors, thanks to terrific characterization by Puri Jagan. He played the role of a sadistic villain and entertains us with funny dialogues. Brahmaji did another terrific character in this movie after his cameo in Athadu film. The pair of Sonu Sood and Brahmaji is hilarious. Brahmanandam's comedy in not upto the mark. Ali is wasted as a magician in 'Jack Sparrow' get-up. Venu Madhav and Sunil characters are partly entertaining. Posani Krishna Murali provides humor as a cunning politician. Mukul Dev and Tanikella Bharani are adequate. The kid who did the mimicry is good. Makrand Deshpande suited the role well and he adds value to the movie. Half of his dialogues are in written in Hindi for his convenience.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - directon: Story of the movie is about a son in search of his parents. The characterization of Prabhas is extended from their last movie Bujjigadu and you can see some shades of Pokiri in this movie too. Direction by Puri Jagan is good. But the screenplay should have been better in the second half. The characterizations of villain and hero are good. And there is nice confrontation scenes between them. Puri Jagan who has shown promise in the first half of the movie couldn't carry the same element of interest in the second half. The last twenty minutes of the movie is a downer. I liked the point at which he closed the movie instead of showing some routine and dramatic reunion in the end.

Other departments: Music by Mani Sharma is very good. All songs are canned well on the screen. The title song Ek Niranjan is excellent. Evaru Lerani song is very good. There is a tribute to Michael Jackson in the last song of the movie. This song is nicely edited with some rare footage of MJ. Dialogues by Puri Jagan deserves a special appreciation. The dialogues penned for Prabhas and Sonu Sood are excellent. The dialogues before 'evaru lerani' song (heroine proposal scene) are really good. Puri Jagan has made it a habit to make heroine call hero 'naa kodaka' in his recent movies. Cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is nice. Editing by Varma is adequate. Fights are good. The climax fight should have been impact-making.

Analysis: First half of the movie is entertaining. Second half is also adequate but for the last twenty minutes. The graph of the movie goes down from the time the story shifts to Bangkok. The plus points are Prabhas, dialogues and music. On the flip side the second half should have been better and the violence should have been toned down. On a whole, Ek Niranjan is a not a bad film. We have to wait and see how the masses receive it.

Puri Jaganath Loosing his touch!!

Enough is enough, Puri Jaganath could stop directing films and spoiling the careers of heroes. His latest offering Ek Niranjan is proof enough to say that a director's creativity is limited, and he needs to stop somewhere.

Puri is living in the past, even in Ek Niranjan he has a huge Pokiri hangover and the sequence of events and some of the scenes just look like they have been picked up from Pokiri. The story is weak and predictable.

Despite best efforts from Prabhas and the rest of the cast, Ek Niranjan does not live up to the high expectations of the audiences. It would best if Puri reexamines his craft and does not kill the audience to boredom

Genelia is the next from the tinsel town to step into the television industry. The actress will be soon seen hosting a reality show a popular channel, however in Hindi.

“Yes, I am getting ready for the game. TV is totally new to me. The theme is so interesting. Hence I accepted the offer,” says the actress, who is successful in four languages- Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

Revealing her fitness secret, Genelia says, “I am basically an athlete. I was a State level runner and I played for National football team. Hence, I am fit. I don’t stay away from any kind of food. If I like something, I binge onto it. I love biriyani, even if it’s oily,” she says.”

As an actress with experience in four languages, which one do you prefer to act? To this question, the bubbly actress’s answer is: “I enjoy doing films in all languages. Script is the first factor I look into. I don’t mind doing a five-minute role if it’s worth it. Secondly I should have comfort level with director/producer I work with. Language is never the criterion for me.”
