nding the wait over his reaction regarding the flexi banner row, Jr NTR has finally opened mouth to clear the air. Without extending much Q&A regarding the issue, he simply finished it in a long sentence which directly slapped all opponents in the face.

While interacting with media during the Success Meet of 'Baadshah', Jr NTR stated as follows:

'I'm very happy now for Baadshah becoming a big hit. Don't distance me from happiness by dragging me into unnecessary controversies. I always say this and saying now that only NTR's blood flows through my body. By serving my parents and remembering my grandfather for the stature he has given, I'll be with the party established by him', said Jr NTR.

Looks like, things are very clear for his detractors after these comments by NTR. People who are using his photos for the cut-outs of other political parties should realize at least now. 'With Jr NTR stating that he will be with TDP forever, oppositions should shut mouths at least now', says a TDP leader.

Hyderabad, April 8: Home minister Sabita Indra Reddy who is named accused in the Jagan assets case, met the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy soon after he came back from Delhi, where he attended the Chief Ministers and Chief Justices conference.

It is learnt that she discussed about her predicament with Kiran Kumar Reddy. It is not yet clear if she would resign like Dharmana and leave the matter to the Chief Minister or wait for some more time before quitting the cabinet. It may be recalled that after the Chief Minister rejected the resignation of Dharmana CBI could not arrest him. He is attending the court whenever called, in his capacity as a minister. It should be seen if Sabita also would be permitted the same privilege.

Sabita wanted to resign

Soon after knowing about CBI charge-sheet, PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and finance minister Anam Rama Narayana Reddy went to Sabita’s house and discussed about the case.

Speaking to the media later, Botsa said Sabita wanted to resign, as she felt it was not proper for her to continue in office after she was named. He said every one including the Chief Minister had asked her to wait until all the issues concerned were carefully discussed and legal opinion obtained.

Warangal, April 8: Nandamuri Hari Krishna, TDP politburo member strongly supported his son in the flexi banner controversy. He also said there was nothing wrong in any one (YSR Congress) using the picture of his late father NT Rama Rao as he belonged to all the people.

Talking to the media here on Monday, he gave a strong warning to Bala Krishna for threatening to take stern action against his son Jr. NTR in the flexi banner controversy. He said he did not know whether to be angry or sad at the threat of Bala Krishna. He said Jr. NTR had already given clarification that he had nothing to do with the action of some people, and argued that there was no need for clarifying it again and again. He said he only felt sad at the warning to his son. He also indirectly warned Balayya to control his tongue. He said it was improper to talk whatever one liked. He said Jr. NTR grew up in age and stature and earned millions of fans. He also got married recently and needed due respect.

Stating that in a democracy, everything should be settled before the people, he said he was ready to talk about it in 'Bazaar', with Congress, TDP or YSR Congress, if they were ready to answer his questions. Without mentioning the name of Balayya, he said one should not talk as he liked, while referring to the threat of action by the TDP against his son.

It may be recalled that Balayya warned Jr. NTR that he would have to face serious consequences if he did not condemn use of his pictures on the hoardings of the YSR Congress.

On the criticism of TDP leaders about the use of his father late N T Rama Rao's pictures by the YSR Congress, Hari Krishna said the late actor and leader was like God to his fans and argued that anyone could use his pictures. "A fan uses his picture. Can we displease him? When Maya Bazaar was released, every house had the picture of NTR. People worshipped him like God. How can we say no to it? If someone does something, should our family be victimized?" he questioned.

Referring to the charge that use of NTR's picture was political debauchery, Hari Krishna questioned how can it be called that. Stating that he would not like to mention the name of the person who called it political debauchery, he said there was nothing wrong with use of the pictures of NTR. He said there was not a human like NTR before him are after him. As such he belonged to all and every one had the right to use his picture. He said it was the need of the hour that they all tried to save the party founded by late NTR.

It may recalled that minister Dharmana Prasada Rao who was named accused in the Vanpic case had resigned soon after his name was mentioned in the charge-sheet. However, the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy chose not to accept it. Another former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana is already in jail. CBI counsel Ashok Bhan took strong exception to Dharmana’s resignation not being accepted. He said if there were any morals left, Dharmana should have quit the cabinet. In this context, there is high tension among the remaining cabinet members. It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court has already issued notices to Sabita Indra Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Geeta Reddy and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana. Now CBI named Sabita an accused charging her of liberally allotting lands to cement companies including Dalmia cements, which in turn invested in Jagan’s companies.

Hyderabad, April 3: There appears to be tiff between the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao and his party MP Vijaya Shanti over the Medak seat.

KCR who was elected to Lok Sabha from the Mahabubnagar is unsure of getting good majority there in the next elections. Though he or any other TRS leader had any doubt over his victory there, they doubt if he would get impressive majority. KCR has been thinking of shifting to Medak, as he fears that if he doesn’t get impressive majority, opponents of Telangana would argue that the Telangana sentiment had died down.

But Congress and TDP leaders are stating that KCR would be defeated if he contests from Mahabubnagar as he badly neglected the constituency. KCR rarely visited Mahabubnagar and had not attended to any of the people’s problems, they say. If he contests from there he would be surely defeated, Congress and TDP leaders are contending.

It is a fact that KCR has been looking for a safe constituency and eyed on Vijaya Shanti’s Medak. It is learnt that retired IAS officer K V Ramanachari is trying to join TRS and has asked for Medak seat. It is in this context that KCR requested Vijaya Shanti to shift to some other constituency and tried to convince her that it would be easy for her to get elected from anywhere, because of her charisma. Still, Vijaya Shanti reportedly refused to budge.

She told her close confidents that she would not leave the Medak seat either for KCR or Ramanachary. “Why should I leave my seat for IAS or IPS officers who enjoy power and join the party just before elections? I will not leave it even for KCR” she is reported to have told her confidents.

She also reportedly opposed the candidature of Ramanachary stating that the IAS and IPS officers were part of the government that oppressed the Telangana people and hence should not be encouraged. She also reportedly opposed to industrialists or realtors being given tickets, branding them as oppressors and exploiters of Telangana people. She stoutly told KCR that she would not budge for anyone as she has been toiling for Telangana sacrificing her film career and a comfortable life.

On KCR contesting from Medak, she reportedly said that during last elections it was discussed in the party and senior leaders had decided that KCR should contest from Mahabubnagar and she from Medak. This time also it would be discussed in the party, she reportedly told her colleagues.

Hyderabad, April 2: The statement of Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Palvai Govardhan Reddy that there was no danger to the Congress government in the state even if 20 more MLAs left the party and joined the YSR Congress, as the TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu would protect, stunned every one. This has been exactly the charge of the YSR Congress all along and the senior Congress leader admitting it surprised many including even the YSRCP leaders. There have been doubts that Naidu deliberately made his party maintain neutrality during the recent no-confidence vote and saved the government. TRS and YSRCP leaders had already charged the TDP chief of protecting the government in return for relief from probe into charges against him. It was even said earlier that Naidu met Chidambaram on a night in Delhi and buying truce from the CBI probe into his assets. But Govardhan Reddy saying it, astonished every one.  Govardhan Reddy said many more MLAs of the party were going to leave the party and join the Jagan bandwagon. He said some ministers were also readying to join the Jagan bandwagon and even Congress President Sonia Gandhi knew about it. He said still the government would not fall. There is a hot debate in the political circles on why such a senior leader made such an off the cuff remark. Even if there was some secret understanding between the Congress and TDP, how could he openly state it, Congress leaders are privately discussing. Meanwhile, the YSR Congress leaders were enthused by the statement of the RS member. Party leaders who sat with Vijayamma in the fast camp in the New MLA quarters told her about the statement of Govardhan Reddy and the YSRCP leaders were seen discussing about it. As the statement came handy, YSRCP leaders are likely to make a campaign about it from tomorrow onwards.Palvai said they had information that some ministers also would be joining the Jagan bandwagon. It is already being reported that the jailed former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana had already decided to join the YSR Congress. He is likely to join the party as soon as he gets bail. It is also learnt that Jagan had also cleared Mopidevi’s entry and even assured ticket to him in the 2014 elections.

Sanjay Dutt sentenced to 5 years New Delhi, March 21: The Supreme Court Thursday upheld the death sentence of Yakub Abdul Razak Memon in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case and commuted the death sentence of 10 others. The apex court also upheld the conviction of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt under the Arms Act in the terror attack and sent him to five years in prison. While confirming the death sentence of Yakub Memon, the bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and B.S. Chauhan said he and other members of the Memon family had played a predominant role in the execution of the conspiracy that led to 13 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai on March 12, 1993, claiming 257 lives and leaving 713 injured. While commuting the death sentence of the 10 other convicts to life imprisonment, the court said that they were mere subservients in the execution of the conspiracy. The humble and underprivileged background of these 10 accused, who were mere instruments in the hands of "principal perpetrators", were counted as mitigating circumstances by the court. The court said that if Memons were the archers of the conspiracy these 10 were just arrows. The judges also slammed Pakistan for aiding and abetting the acts of terrorism in infringement of international obligation as a member of United Nations.Dutt was asked to surrender in four weeks. The actor, who was convicted under the Arms Act for illegally possessing weapons, had been awarded six years imprisonment by the TADA (Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) court. However, the apex court reduced the sentence from six years to five years. This effectively means that Dutt will be in jail for three years and six months as he has already undergone 18 months imprisonment. The court also came down heavily on Mumbai police and customs officers at all levels. But for their wrong actions the 1993 bombings could have been avoided.A TADA court had in 1993 awarded death sentence to 12 people, including Memon. One of them has passed away. The court had also sentenced 20 to life imprisonment and 46 others, including Sanjay Dutt, were given varying terms of imprisonment. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had faced flak for not challenging the TADA court verdict acquitting Sanjay Dutt of charges under the TADA but convicting him under the Arms Act and sentencing him to six years imprisonment. However, in the course of the hearing of his appeal, the CBI had opposed the actor's plea challenging his conviction and sentencing.A series of 13 car bomb blasts had ripped through Mumbai on March 12, 1993. The locations that were targeted included landmarks such as fisherman's colony in Mahim Causeway, Zaveri Bazaar, Sahar Airport, Air India building, Hotel Juhu Centaur, the Bombay Stock Exchange Building and the Passport Office. The TADA court trial court of Justice P.D. Kode had commenced the trial Nov 4, 1993, and pronounced its 4,230 page verdict on July 31, 2007.Why was Sanjay's sentence reduced?Sanjay Dutt's sentence was reduced as he was directly not involved in the terrorist acts. He was arrested for possessing weapons illegally. He was found to have acquired an AK 47 assault rifle. As the weapons were supplied to him by persons having terror links, he was implicated in the Mumbai blasts. However, his sentence was reduced as he had no previous criminal record, his lawyers said. It is learnt Sanjay Dutt might move a review petition on the judgment. Sanjay Dutt's sister Priya Dutt was sitting in the court sad-faced, when the judgment was delivered. Sanjay Dutt is the son of late Sunil Dutt and veteran actress Nargis. Sanjay Dutt, known as an honest person, had not interfered in the prosecution of his son, despite being a senior Congress leader.

Vijayawada, March 17: Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal today asked TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao as how his party would win 100 Assembly seats in the coming elections when he miserably failed to muster support of 30 MLAs for the ‘no-trust’ motion tabled in the Assembly.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Lagadapati ridiculed KCR for failing to gather even 30 MLAs to introduce his ‘no-trust’ motion in the Assembly against the Congress government. He said the Congress high command would strive to retain United Andhra Pradesh. He said the Congress was ready to allow other parties to merge into the Congress if they were prepared to adhere to the party ideals.

Predicting that the Telangana separatists would not win 100 MLA seats in the coming elections, Lagadapati warned that the government would show its power if separatists attempted to create disturbances in the name of ‘Sadak Bandh’.

Sanathnagar MLA Marri Sashidhar Reddy, who remained absent on the day the government faced ‘no-trust’ motion, said he didn’t attend the House as the government had full strength to win against ‘no-trust’ motion. He said he was in Delhi during ‘no-trust’ motion and the same was informed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy through a letter. He said the Chief Minister and PCC Chief Botcha Satyanrayana would initiate action against the party legislators, who defied the party ‘Whip’ during the voting on ‘no trust’ motion.

Hyderabad, Mar 4: Film actress and MP Jaya Prada announced her decision to contest from Rajahmundry. She said she would contest to Lok Sabha from there.

Though she has not said from which party she would contest, it is being presumed that she would be the YSR Congress party's candidate as she was all praise for the late Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Stating that she was not against Telangana, she said she was however an integrationist.

Jaya Prada has affirmed that it was due to the welfare schemes undertaken by late YSR that the state had developed. Though she said she liked the programmes of YSR very much, she did not say from which party she would contest. She said would make that announcement in Rajahmundry. She lamented that there was no Telugu girls on the Tollywood screen now.

It may be recalled that Jaya Prada was an MP of the TDP when Chandra Babu Naidu was the Chief Minister. She also served as the Telugu Mahila chief. However, she left TDP and the state after she allegedly developed differences with Naidu. She joined the Samajwadi Party and was elected to Lok Sabha from that party. Recently he and her mentor Amar Singh were expelled from the SP after the latter developed differences with the SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. Though Amar Singh launched a party, it could not create any impact in the last elections.

Hyderabad, Feb 1: A three-day protest would be launched throughout the State to condemn the highhanded behavior of the police against Shankar Rao, a Dalit legislators, announced MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga. He called on the former minister in Care Hospital where he is undergoing treatment after having subjected to tension and trauma. He lamented that while Kadapa MP Jagan, who was also facing some criminal charges, was being provided VIP treatment in the jail, Shankar Rao being a Dalit leader was ill-treated. If the CM, Home Minister and the DGP do not mend their ways in dealing properly with the Dalits, it would only lead to law and order problem in the State, Krishna said and wanted that the police who had ill-treated Shankar Rao should be immediately suspended.

Jubilee Hills legislator Vishnuvardhan Reddy also faulted the Cyberabad police for manhandling the Dalit former minister. The entire Youth Congress workers are behind Dr Shankar Rao, he added.

Lamenting that Dr Shankar Rao was ill-treated by the police as he was a Dalit, TDP leader Mothkupalli Narsimhulu said Shankar Rao was ill-treated by the police because he was a Dalit.

Health bulletin

Shankar Rao, who was first admitted to Gandhi Hospital after he complained of chest pain made breathlessness in the wake of police dragging him to the Neredmet Police Station for questioning, is now in the ICC unit of Care Hospital. In a health bulletin released by the hospital said that Shankar Rao has been suffering from mental trauma. Since he had already had a by-pass surgery, all needed Medi care was being provided and constantly monitoring his condition. His BP and sugar levels are not normal.

Has the plan misfired?

The over-zealousness of police in dealing with Shankar Rao in connection with the Greenfields land issue seemed to have misfired with overwhelming protests and condemnation pouring out from all sections of the society. Shankar Rao is the main architect in making the High Court order a CBI inquiry in the disproportionate assets of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The maverick minister rubbed many persons on the wrong side by criticizing them on various issues. He did not spare the Chief Miniser, Home Minister and others in his daily tirade which led to his being sacked from the cabinet.

Hyderabad, Jan 28: The Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi president Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy here on Monday reiterated that separate Telangana State will be possible only with the demand of trifurcation of the State.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Byreddy said that Telangana State would be a distant dream even after hundred years if the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party fought only for Telangana State. He called upon the leaders of both TRS and BJP to join the struggle for separate Rayalaseema State too. He said the Centre would come down on bended knees and concede separate States if the leaders of both Telangana and Rayalaseema regions fight for division of the State, he added.

Stating that Rajahmundry Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar’s argument for united State does not work, he ridiculed the Rayalaseema leaders with singing different songs in different regions for their narrow political ends and survival.

Hyderabad, Jan 28: A day after the central government indefinitely postponed its decision on the Telangana issue, the region was rocked by protests with proponents of a separate state taking to the streets.

There were also protests in the other two regions -Rayalseema and Andhra - demanding that Andhra Pradesh be kept united.

Scores of pro-Telangana protestors were arrested by police in Hyderabad, Warangal and other parts of the region. Rallies were taken out and meetings were held to condemn the statement of union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is in charge of the state.

In an innovative protest, Telangana activists staged a demonstration with dogs, seeking to compare the central government's attitude towards Telangana with the dog's barking.

In Hyderabad, police arrested revolutionary balladeer Gadar, who was leading a rally to Telangana Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park near the state assembly. Dozens of students marching towards Gun Park were also detained.

Telangana Rashtriya Lok Dal activists were taken into custody when they tried to lay siege to the state assembly. Protestors trying to march towards Raj Bhavan and also those attempting to lay siege to MLA Quarters were also arrested.

For the second consecutive day, the Osmania University here remained tense with police not allowing students to take out a rally. Raising slogans of "Jai Telangana", the students tried to march towards Gun Park near the state assembly but were pushed back by police, who closed the university gates.

Police arrested over 30 students at the Nizam College in the heart of the city when they tried to take out a rally to Telangana Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park.

Tension also prevailed at Indira Park, where Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) members continued their protest for the second day.

Students trying to take out a rally from Indira Park clashed with police when they were stopped. Some protestors removed barricades but were stopped by police officials, who did not allow them to proceed on the ground that no prior permission was taken for the rally.

Students were also stopped from joining the protest at Indira Park as police had Sunday granted permission for demonstrations there on the condition that no more than 2,000 people would participate in it.

Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary K. Narayana and other party leaders and activists reached Indira Park in a rally.

The numbers at Indira Park swelled since morning as students and leaders of various parties also joined the protest.

There were also protests at the Kakatiya University in Warangal town.

Some pro-Telangana students with petrol bottles in their hands climbed on a building, threatening to commit suicide if other students arrested by the police were not released. The arrests were made when students were trying to take out a rally. The protestors relented after university authorities gave them an assurance.

Students of Telangana University in Nizamabad district blockaded the highway, condemning the central government's attitude towards Telangana.

Meanwhile, protests continued in Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and Andhra regions) opposing possible division of Andhra Pradesh. Hundreds of people participated in a massive rally in Tirupati. Journalists also joined the protest demanding that the central government keep the state united.

Lawyers took out a bike rally in Kurnool, demanding that any plans to bifurcate the state be dropped.

Hyderabad, Jan 28: Condemning the statements of Union Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Susheel Kumar Shinde on Telangana issue, the MPs from the Telangana region have decided to tender resignations from the Lok Sabha as well as to the primary membership of the party on the evening of January 29 in the Speaker’s format.

Speaking to the media after a prolonged meeting at Peddapally MP G Vivek’s residence here on Monday, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Vivek said they would tender resignations to the Lok Sabha and party on Tuesday at CWC former member Dr K Keshava Rao’s residence. They exuded confidence that the ministers from Telangana region too would follow suit.

Rajagopal Reddy said they were making tireless efforts for the last three years protecting the interests of the party in the region. But the adamant Seemandhra Congress leaders were systematically sabotaging formation of separate Telangana State by intense lobbying and resorting to blackmailing tactics at New Delhi resulting in Ghulam Nabi’s statement.

Faulting Ghulam’s statement ridiculing the people of the Telangana region, Rajagopal Reddy said even God ‘Brahma’ would not save the interests of the Congress in the region if the high command delayed the decision on Telangana further.

CWC former member Dr K Keshav Rao said they were being deceived by the party high command. He said the high command’s statements were creating doubts among the people of Telangana. He said the Congress MPs of the region would not believe the party high command further unless it announced separate Telangana State immediately. He also said achievement of Telangana State was possible within a week only if all the Congress leaders, including ministers, legislators and DCC presidents worked together. "I'm disappointed with the delay, it is hard to swallow this. People have lost faith. I feel the party is trying to buy time," Keshav Rao added.

Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud has made it clear that they would use their position as a weapon to achieve separate Telangana State. Creation of separate Telangana State was getting delayed only because of lack of cooperation between the ministers and MLAs. He asked the Telangana protagonists to identify the Telangana betrayers and not to doubt about sincerity of the Telangana Congress MPs. He also called upon the T protagonists to obstruct the efforts of anti-Telangana forces and the Seemandhra leaders.

Alleging that the Samaikyandhra movement was being run by the YSRCP coverts, Yashki said Seemandhra Congress leaders joined the movement only to help strengthen the YSRCP and their sons’ future in that party. Yashki warned the Seemandhra leaders not to make provocative statements lest the security of the Seemandhra people settled in Telangana region would be harmed. He also advised the Seemandhra Congress leaders to banish Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao, who engineered the Samaikyandhra movement for his own interests. He also alleged that Dr KVP was organizing “wine and dinner” politics in Delhi to obstruct creation of Telangana State.

Stating that AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi were not against creation of separate Telangana State, Yashki said the Seemandhra leaders were stalling Telangana State with the help of Governor and Intelligence Bureau. He asked Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy to speak on Telangana as Seemandhra’s Pallam Raju was speaking boldly in favor of united Andhra Pradesh.

The union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde last month said that a decision on Telangana would be made within a month. And finally when the deadline came, the same old dialogue came out before the press-talks were on and further time would be needed. It looked like except Congress party all parties were in support of statehood for Telangana. So, why was Congress party dilly dallying on Telangana.

The sources said that Sonia Gandhi apparently questioned as to how many seats Congress leaders would win in Telangana region if a state is carved out and a similar question was reportedly put forth before leaders of Seemandhra region. The sources even said that both the leaders from Telangana said Congress would get maximum seats if state is bifurcated whereas leaders from Seemandhra apparently said Congress would not get any seats if state is bifurcated. This answer reportedly confused Congress and therefore was unable to come to decision, which reportedly affected the consensus policy of the centre. Congress should keep aside votes' policy and look at the welfare of the people and life of the party in the long run, said observers. Anyway, fingers crossed to see what Congress would finally spell out.
