If grapevine is anything to go by, Jr NTR would be the face of new political outfit that’s likely to emerge in the truncated state of Andhra Pradesh. Buzz is that NTR’s dearest friend-Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani and Jr NTR’s father-ex Rajya Sabha MP Nandamuri Hari Krishna are toying with the idea of floating new political party. What’s more? Already Nani and Harikrishna have chalked out a plan for the same and even consulted several senior politicians seeking their advise on how to take it forward.
While few openly advised Harikrishna to drop plans as it isn’t easy to run a political party and survive, others suggested him to do good groundwork before starting it. In fact, this is not something new for Harikrishna as he has set up a political party Anna Telugu Desam way back in 1999. The party contested in general elections then saw colossal result as it failed to win a single Assembly seat or Parliament seat. Subsequently, Harikrishna merged the party into TDP and even became politburo member of the party and nominated to Rajya Sabha. Considering the past experience, Harikrishna now is making wise moves.
Going by reports, Nani and Harikrishna want to join as many as senior leaders from TDP and people who have already left YSR Congress. The move is to take on the ruling TDP. It’s well-known by now that Harikrishna and Jr NTR are not happy with TDP. Harikrishna is of the opinion that ‘injustice’ was meted out to him and his son Jr NTR in the TDP after campaigning for the party in 2009 elections. Unable to digest the reigns being handed over to Nara Lokesh, Harikrishna, who wants his son Tarak to lead TDP, started distancing from the party.
Since NTR is presently busy with films, Nani and Harikrishna want him to join later and in between, the duo is expected to make all necessary arrangements to launch the party. Nani is most trusted aid of Jr NTR and Jr NTR himself made it very clear many times. The recent public appearance of Nani with Harikrishna and Nani’s statement that Harikrishna was his ‘Political Guru’ indicate that something is really brewing. What’s more? And this is reportedly backed by YS Jagan to counter Naidu by weakening TDP with family feuds. Jagan wants to pit Jr NTR against Nara Lokesh and Nani, Harikrishna against Chandrababu Naidu so that he’d get political mileage in 2019 elections.
However, at the moment this is the just speculation doing the rounds. Whether it becomes reality or not has to be seen. If all goes well per the plan, AP would see a new political party before 2019 elections.
US authorities announced on Tuesday the arrest of 10 people from India and 11 from China for alleged visa fraud involving college admission and likely deportation of hundreds of Indian students.
The accused used a phony university in New Jersey to grant certification needed for legitimate student and work visas but were not aware it was run by federal agents investigating them.
Authorities said defendants helped over 1,000 foreign students stay in the US legally with papers provided to them from this phony institution, University of Northern New Jersey (UNNJ).
The accused are charged with visa fraud and making false statements, each carries a sentence of five years, and H-1B visa fraud and harboring aliens, each carrying 10 years.
Authorities are cancelling non-immigrant student visas of foreign nationals who benefitted from the racket, and, if applicable, arrest them and start deportation proceedings against them.
The Indian Embassy in Washington is in touch with the US government about Indians among these students — around 370 and 380 according to official sources — seeking fair treatment for them.
The embassy has requested the US government to not arrest or deport them. And given them a chance, instead, to keep their student visa by transferring to another university.
“This has been done before in the case of Tri-Valley (a fake California university busted by authorities in 2011 for running a pay-to-stay student visa racket),” said an official in Delhi.
The embassy is also awaiting consular access to those among the arrested who hold Indian passports — going by their names, 10 of them seemed to be Indian or of Indian descent.
Students from India have been found enrolled in vast numbers in almost every fake university busted in recent years — Tri-Valley in 2011 and University of Northern Virginia in 2013.
Late 2015, US authorities deported hundreds of Indian students headed for two California universities from the airport itself, San Francisco, and in some cases from their stop-overs.
Most of these universities operate as fronts from pay-to-stay operations, selling I-20s —“Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status - for Academic and Language Students — needed to get a student F-1 visa.
This time agents of Homeland Security Investigations (a wing of the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees immigration) started one as part of a sting operation.
Set up in 2013, UNNJ had no instructors or educators, no curriculum, and conducted no classes or education activities, said a statement from the office of US attorney for New Jersey.
The university, which “operated solely as a storefront location with small offices staffed by federal agents posing as school administrators”, could issue I-20s, however.
That brought them the defendants, recruiting companies, brokers and business entities located from all over the country — New Jersey, California, Illinois, New York, and Virginia.
Everyone involved — recruiting agents and their clients, mostly from India and China — knew UNNJ was a phony university, as perhaps like the others they had heard of.
Only, this one was being run by undercover federal agents.
Defendants are charged with producing false documents to facilitate their clients’ enrolment at UNNJ and also arrange for H-1B visas meant for highly skilled foreign workers.
Beneficiaries were mostly those already in the US on valid visas. Enrolment and work permit through UNNJ allowed them to continue staying, legally but through illegal means.
Known for his daring talk, firebrand actor Mohan Babu is all set to join the active politics one more time. He made it official that he will soon be working in politics fulltime actively.
Although he didn't mention any party in particular, sources revealed that he might be joining YS Jagan's party.
Mohan Babu announced that he is going to join as member of an existing party and serve for the poor. Since he is close to YSR's family, political pundits are predicting that he will join the YSRC party.
Lending credence to this, his guru Dasari Narayana Rao also recently met YS Jagan and had long chat with him.
It is expected that Dasari will be aligning with YS Jagan at appropriate time. Given this scenario, it is natural to think that Mohan Babu is also joining YSRC party.

Young Tiger NTR has found himself in a slightly embarrassing situation this evening. The actor's car was stopped by the city's traffic police when they noticed that the car windows are still covered with the black film. This is in violation of a Supreme Court's ruling.
The cops reportedly informed NTR about the SC rule and made a challan for Rs. 700 towards fine. NTR, apparently, did not make any fuss, cooperated with the police, paid the fine and immediately left the scene in his car. According to the latest reports published by a leading national media house which played a key role in unearthing the scandal, three noted Telugu Industrialists, Hyderabad-based Moturi Srinivas Prasad and Bhavanasi Jaya Kumar and US-based Olas Bhaskar Rao, were found having offshore accounts.
The leaked documents of Mossack Fonseka revealed that Moturi Srinivas Prasad heads 4 offshore entities in British Virgin Islands. He has been working as the Executive Chairman and MD of Nandan Cleantec Limited and also owns SICA Securities. He was earlier arrested in April 2012 for illegal assets in biodiesel case and is now out on bail.
Bhavanasi Jaya Kumar is the Director of Nandan Technologies limited, Yes De Ventures, Grand Bay Canal Limited along with Moturi Srinivas Prasad and Bhaskar Rao. He is also the Director of 6 other companies that are associated with Nandan Technologies.
Bhaskar Rao is the MD of Nandan Technologies and its associated companies. He is also the co-owner of SICA Securities and promoter for Nandan Cleantec Ltd. Bhaskar Rao has been living in Britain ever since his retirement.
Incidentally, all the three Industrialists refuted the allegations and said they had nothing to do with any offshore companies and assets. -
Parents of TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who allegedly committed suicide, today alleged that her daughter took the extreme step as she was subjected to torture by her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. Rahul, a TV producer, who is currently in hospital, was today booked after police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by Banerjee's mother Soma at Bangurnagar Police Station.
"He (Rahul) should not get out. My daughter should get justice and I would like to appeal to the entire nation to help me in seeking justice for my daughter. He tortured my daughter a lot and finished her," Soma told reporters here after the prayer meet held in memory of Pratyusha.
Asked what kind of justice she expects, Soma said, "He should be kept alive in jail and made to suffer for his entire lifetime."
Pratyusha's father Shankar Banerjee, said, "We could not come out in the open earlier as Pratyusha's last rites were not performed. Today, we lodged an FIR against Rahul and told the police about her suffering."
"Our world has been shattered. It doesn't matter if he (Rahul) is hanged or gets life imprisonment. Our daughter's soul won't rest in peace unless he is punished...We trust the law and have faith that truth will ultimately come out," he said.
They alleged Rahul used to scare their daughter and alienated her from her friends. Accusing Rahul of being a fraud, they said, "We are fighting this case, so that these things never happens to any other girl. He should get the strictest punishment. We are getting full support from police and are sure that justice would be done."
Recalling his last conversation with Pratyusha, Shankar said, "She was very interested in astrology and would ask me to read her horoscope. Her star sign was Leo. I was telling her that it was a good year for her. Then I heard her door bell rang and she hung up the phone saying she will talk later."
Her mother Soma said like any other girl Pratyusha had a dream of getting married. "Like any other girl Pratyusha had a dream of getting married and have kids. But lately she realised that she had taken a wrong decision and lost her life while doing the wrong right," she said.
Besides family and friends, a host of television personalities like Kamya Punjabi, Vikas Gupta, Sara Khan, Shashank Vyas, Jay Bhanusali, Deepshikha Nagpal, Anuj Sachdeva, Sangram Singh and Rohit Verma and others were present at the prayer meet.

US law enforcement agencies today arrested 21 people, including 10 Indian Americans, on charges of visa fraud involving about 1,000 foreign students. Arrested in New York, New Jersey, Washington and Virginia these 21 individuals were brokers, recruiters and employers who conspired with more than 1,000 foreign nationals to fraudulently obtain student and foreign worker visas through a "pay to stay" New Jersey college, Department of Justice said.
"Today's arrests, which were made possible by the great undercover work of our law enforcement partners, stopped 21 brokers, recruiters and employers across multiple states who recklessly exploited our immigration system for financial gain," US Attorney Paul J Fishman said in a statement.
"Pay to Stay schemes not only damage our perception of legitimate student and foreign worker visa programs, they also pose a very real threat to national security," he said.
As per the federal compliant unsealed today, the defendants, many of whom operated recruiting companies for purported international students, were arrested for their involvement in an alleged scheme to enroll foreign nationals as students in the University of Northern New Jersey (UNNJ, a purported for-profit college located in Cranford, New Jersey.
Unbeknownst to the defendants and the foreign nationals they conspired with, however, the UNNJ was created in September 2013 by federal agents.
Through the UNNJ, undercover HSI agents investigated criminal activities associated with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), including, but not limited to, student visa fraud and the harboring of aliens for profit.
The UNNJ was not staffed with instructors or educators, had no curriculum and conducted no actual classes or education activities.
The UNNJ operated solely as a storefront location with small offices staffed by federal agents posing as school administrators, the Justice Department said.
During the investigation, HSI special agents identified hundreds of foreign nationals, primarily from China and India, who previously entered the US on F-1 non-immigrant student visas to attend other SEVP- accredited schools.
Through various recruiting companies and business entities located in New Jersey, California, Illinois, New York and Virginia, the defendants then enabled approximately 1,076 of these foreign individuals – all of whom were willing participants in the scheme – to fraudulently maintain their nonimmigrant status in the US on the false pretence that they continued to participate in full courses of study at the UNNJ.
During the course of their dealings with undercover agents, the defendants fully acknowledged that none of their foreign national clients would attend any actual courses, earn actual credits, or make academic progress toward an actual degree in a particular field of study, it said.
Rather, the defendants facilitated the enrollment of their foreign national clients in UNNJ to fraudulently maintain student visa status, in exchange for kickbacks, or "commissions".

Pooja Mishra, a model video jockey, has slapped a defamation suit against Indo-Canadian Bollywoodactress and model Sunny Leone. Both the stars participated in Big Boss' Season 5.
The controversial star Pooja has filed a criminal defamation case in the Bombay High Court seeking a compensation of whopping Rs 100 crore for allegedly defaming her. The former had earlier also reportedly made such attempts.
In her petition, Pooja said that Sunny Leone had earlier given defamatory interviews as the latter was jealous about the former. She further said that the Indo-Canadian actress had damaged her reputation for which she had to break her fixed deposits and suffered a loss of Rs 70 lakh.
Pooja urged the court to issue process against Sunny Leone under under IPC sections 500 (defamation) read with 120(b) (conspiracy). The matter is expected to come up hearing in June 2016 in the High Court.

Suriya was recently shooting for S3 in Eedigapalle in Chittoor district. Suriya was returning to his hotel room in Madanapalle after the shoot and noticed a woman battling for life on the road after being severely injured in a road accident near Valasapalle. Suriya quickly sent the woman to a nearby hospital in his car.

Actress Raashi Khanna, who is busy with Telugu films, is officially a Hyderabadi. The actress has bought a house in the city and has decided to settle here.
“I had been living out of a suitcase in hotels and that was getting to me; so I bought a new house in Hyderabad,” says Raashi, adding, “I wanted the comfort and warmth of my own home when I return from hectic shootings.”
She has also brought her parents here. “I love the magic of Hyderabad and its myriad hues and have just begun exploring the city of minars,” adds the actress.
A group of friends were arrested by the cops while they were watching Oopiri movie in a theater in Texas.
They went into the movie theater without purchasing tickets and were caught red handed by the theater management. They were handed over to the police as the management wanted to teach such offenders a lesson.
They were taken to the police station and fined heavily for the offense. Reports say that they are students at an American University.
The news has sent a shock wave among the Indian students in US as it has become habitual for them to watch movies without purchasing the tickets.
This incident also has alerted the exhibitors across the United States.
Telangana folk singer Madhupriya, who hit the headlines with her high-voltage drama on her differences with husband Srikanth, is now finding it difficult to sustain her life.
She now wants Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to come to her rescue and show her some livelihood.
In a television interview, Madhupriya said she had also played a major role in the Telangana movement.
“Since the age of six years, I had been actively participating in the Telangana agitation and inspired people with my singing. Now that the Telangana State has become a reality, people of Telangana are leading a happy life. But my own life has become miserable,” she said.
Since KCR has done a lot of favours to those who took part in the Telangana movement, Madhupriya wants that she too be shown some way to sustain.
Though she did not say it so explicitly, she is said to be expecting a role in politics by joining the TRS, if KCR invites her. That’s a little too much for an immature person like Madhupriya
Mumbai: At a time when marriages and relationships are going kaput in tinsel town, actress-turned-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty, who believes she has "middle-class thinking" says “discussions” and “arguments” are normal in any marriage.
Shilpa is married to businessman Raj Kundra.
“I feel that discussions, arguments in any marriage are very normal. But how you get over those and resolve (them), that is important,” Shilpa said on TV show “Yaar Mera Superstar”.
Karisma Kapoor-Sanjay Kapur, Hrithik Roshan-Sussanne Khan and Arbaaz Khan-Malaika Arora Khan are a few celebrity couples who have parted ways after having trouble in their paradise.
“However you resolve it, you need to make sure you do it within that circle of marriage. That’s why I feel I’m a bit middle-class in my thinking. Trust and respect are very important for a successful marriage.
“We should keep the marriage simple and never feel like you’re married to keep the complications away,” added Shilpa, who has son Viaan with Raj.
Shilpa and Raj got married in 2009. It was Raj's second marriage.
