A persevering stray dog provided a disconcerting sideshow and almost ruined the race of Ethiopia’s Mule Wasihun in the TCS World 10K on Sunday.
Dogs chasing athletes isn’t an uncommon occurrence in the city but this one proved a bit too hard to shake off for the runner. Wasihun had built up a good lead in the race despite taking a wrong direction at one point when the dog took a liking to him near the Cubbon Park metro station.
He started following Wasihun and menacingly closed in on him on a couple of occasions. Wasihun upped the pace and the dog did likewise, chasing him right along Ambedkar Veedhi and onto the Cubbon Park. The Ethiopian almost tripped over as the dog came in between his legs and he had to jump over the animal to avoid a fall. Sensing the presence of other strays in the park, the dog then beat a retreat but only after revealing an unwelcome side of the city to the world.
Earlier in the race, Wasihun mistook directions and went off into Cubbon Park at the Queen’s Statue, when he should have been running up towards the Minsk Square. He returned only to find his lead cut significantly. The Ethiopian’s miserable day was complete when the hot pace took its toll and he eventually finished ninth.
Mosinet Geremew of Ethiopia, meanwhile, retained the Men’s Elite crown while Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya powered to victory in the corresponding event for women.

Stylish Star Allu Arjun who always distanced himself from controversies suddenly has become an epicenter of explosive controversies. After his 'Cheppanu Brother' comment drew ire of Power Star fans, the Sarrainodu collections have been baffling many movie lovers as such.
Instead of silently enjoying the success of Sarrainodu movie the actor in an interview with media commented on film critics and drew their ire. Bunny said that critics don’t know about cinema. He made these comments with respect to his current movie Sarrainodu. The actor said that critics don’t watch movie as common audience and criticize films according to their standards. He even remarked that they cannot understand the C class audience. What is surprising is that when his class movies like S/o Satyamurthy got good reviews from critics he had no issues. The same C class audiences felt the movie a big bore last year.
It is about time the actor learns to focus on work and ignore critically reviewing about critics and reviewers job, it is simply not his job.

Popular realty show “Meelo Evaru Koteeshwarudu” (MEK), being hosted by popular hero Akkineni Nagarjuna on Maa TV, had evoked a lot of response from viewers in the initial days of its launch.
It was really a family show, with all the family members getting glued to their television sets to watch curiously as to who would get what in the quiz.
The show became so popular that Maa TV got the highest TRP ratings, since the host was Nagarjuna and the programme was unique with no other TV coming out with such innovative programme.
It generated so much curiosity among the audiences that people used to discuss about it at every gathering. And the winners became overnight celebrities wherever they went.
However, the programme seems to have lost its sheen of late. The audiences are gradually losing interest in it, which has become monotonous.
Leave alone talking about winners, the audiences seem to have stopped bothering about the telecast of the programme. There are still viewers for it, but the craze has certainly come down.
Obviously, the TRP ratings have gone down and the mass mania for Nagajuna is also said to be on the wane.
Strongly condemning lathicharge on farmers of Kistapur, Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday warned the TRS Government of mass agitation if it forcibly acquires land from farmers in the name of irrigation projects.
Shabbir Ali alleged that the State Government was using coercive methods to collect consent letters from farmers to acquire land for Mallanna Sagar reservoir in Medak district.
He said that the State Government was not willing to pay adequate compensation to the farmers as prescribed by the Land Acquisition Act 2013.
He alleged that the TRS Government has re-designed the Mallanna Sagar reservoir by increasing its capacity from 1.5 TMC to 50 TMC without calculating the economical impact in terms of payment of compensation. Now it wants farmers to settle for peanuts while denying them the deserved and promised benefits under the Compensation Act.
Shabbir Ali said that the land which state government proposes to acquire was fertile land which irrigate two crops every year.
He said that the State Government has replaced the GO. MS. No. 214 with GO. MS. 123 only to deny the farmers adequate compensation.
He said it was wrong on the part of State Government to suppress the voice of farmers by using police and lathicharge.
He demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao convene a review meeting to resolve the issue and come up with clarity on rehabilitation and compensation packages.
In a move that could raise the hackles of the Union government, the TDP government has decided to go ahead with a Metro Rail Project for Amaravati despite the Center not giving permission for the same.
The Center had rejected the Metro R
ail project saying that it would not be viable in a city with a population of less than Rs 20 lakh. But with Venkayya Naidu promising to get the file cleared, TDP sent the file again to the Urban Development Ministry. There has been no response yet.
The TDP government has meanwhile decided to sign an agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Authority to execute the project on a turnkey basis.
The project will cost approximately around Rs 1300 crore and Naidu has decided to bypass the Center and seek the amount as a loan from Japan International Co-operation Agency.
Maybe Naidu should not rush into this project blindly. Hyderabad which has a lot of money is struggling with the L& T project there with many saying that it has turned into a loss making venture for the MNC post-bifurcation. Besides, how will the Center respond to this move of Naidu?

If the reports from New Delhi are to be believed, hardcore RSS activist and BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav might replace Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu in the Narendra Modi cabinet.
Ram Madhav, who hails from Amalapuram in East Godavari district, is very close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah.
It is learnt Ram Madhav would be nominated to Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir and taken into the Modi cabinet in the next reshuffle, likely to take place in June.
On the other hand, the fate of Venkaiah Naidu is uncertain, as his Rajya Sabha term is coming to an end and it is not clear, whether he gets re-nomination from any other part of the country, if not Andhra Pradesh.
Sources said Venkaiah would be drafted into the party and given a key position and his name would be considered for the President’s post after Pranab Mukherjee, whose term will come to an end in July, 2017.
The BJP leadership is of the view that Ram Madhav’s entry into the cabinet would give a new impetus to the party cadre in Andhra Pradesh. Hitherto, the BJP is playing second fiddle to the TDP in the state, thanks to Venkaiah Naidu’s close friendship with Chandrababu Naidu.
Now, Ram Madhav will act independently and strive for the growth of the party in AP, sources said.
Bollywood film maker Sajid Nadiadwala has a lot of interest in southern films. This producer-director re-made several Telugu and Tamil films into Hindu in his decades-long career.
Though he made a few straight films in Hindi, they too have their roots in South and so, they appear they are remakes of South films. Sajid’s technique is to remake old South films and project them as straight Hindi films by giving them latest titles.
One such film is House Full, which has become a super hit. He made two sequels for this film House Full and House Full-2; and now House Full-3 is getting ready for release.
Interestingly, the storylines for the first two films in the series are of South Indian films. The first one – House Full – is a virtual remake of Telugu film “Navvandi Lavvandi” starring Kamal Haasan and Prabhu Deva.
The second in the series – House Full-2, is also a remake of another Telugu film - Hangama, directed by S V Krishna Reddy, which was also a remake of a Malayalam film.
Now, the third in Sajid series – House Full-3 is releasing soon and there is every reason to believe that it also must be a remake of another South Indian film. So watch out for its release to know which film Sajid has copied.

Anasuya Khasba stormed the film world with her negative role in Kshanam. Everyone were quite surprised to see her doing such a role after her glamorous avatar in Soggade Chinni Nayana. Though the film went on to do quite well, Anasuya is yet to have a release now and it is also unclear whether she signed any other film or not.
Anasuya is very popular on the television front and made a decent transition on to the big screen. But the burning question is does she have enough offers in hand. Gossip mongers suggest that as all the offers that she is getting are typical cop roles she is not seen in any other film and has gone back to television.
If one can remember Anasuya was very particular that she will do only particular that she likes and does not want to do blink and miss roles. But situation is like that now that all these blink and miss roles will also be a rarity if she keeps going like this

Like a scene straight out of a Tollywood film (a la Allu Arjun's Julayi), election officials in Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning have caught three containers carrying a whopping Rs 570 Crore.
What's more surprising is that the money carrying in containers belong to PSU bank State Bank of India. The three containers were escorted by three cars. When the containers were not halted when asked for, officials have chased them and stopped near Chengapalli in Tirupur. The men in the cars, identified from Andhra Pradesh, claimed that they're transferring money from SBI Coimbatore to Visakhapatnam.
Although preliminary inquiry suggested that the money belonged to SBI, security guards guarding the money haven't carried original documents and they're only containing photocopies. Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni ordered for a probe into the total issue.
Ahead of general Assembly elections on May 16 in Tamil Nadu, election officials formed flying squads to prevent unaccounted cash flow during polls. Flying squads have been deployed specially to prevent untoward incidents. Meanwhile, another container with Rs 195 Crore was seized at Coimbatore. -

Span of a heroine is very limited and from teenage to mid 20s they get flooded with offers but the moment they near thirties, offers stop coming to them. That is the reason why heroines try to make the most of it in the decade long journey unlike heroes who can star forever as lover boys despite crossing 60s.
However the some hotties are tempting even after crossing thirties. They include Sweety Anushka, Sensous Shriya, cute Kajal and sexy Shruti Haasan. Mark Twain once remarked "Age (30 in this case) is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter".All these hot beauties shared their secret mantra for success.
Anushka speaking to scribe said "Whether it's 30, 32, 34 — they are all just numbers and honestly I've never given my age much thought. There is no escaping getting old so what's the point in worrying about it. I just believe in working hard and staying happy,"
Trisha says "These numbers do not really matter or even strike you when you are busy with work. It's just another year, and just another day. When I look back, I never thought I'd be around for so long. And each time I thought this was it, something good always showed up,"
Shriya sharing the secret said "To expect a heroine to work for five years and go back home is ridiculous. This is an interesting time to be in as a heroine,"
Kajal added "I think my life has just begun at 30 and I am really excited to explore new arenas," and says "I'm raring to go. There's so much to accomplish,"
Shruti Haasan shares "There's this preconceived notion about age, but in reality, age doesn't change anything and life just goes on. Call turning 30 a new phase of life or whatever, but the truth is that the effort that goes into acting is still the same irrespective of how old you are,"
Nayanatara adds "The reason I've been around for 12 years is because of my belief in self, and the hard work I put in for each and every film. Of course, it's important to be physically presentable, and to have a fair amount of luck, but for me, it has mainly been about hard work and dedication to my craft,"
