Samantha, who has been ruling the roost in Telugu cinema ever since she
made debut with Ye Maya Chesave, is finding it tough to handle the busy
schedules. Samantha thought of expanding her frontiers to Tamilnadu and
also signed up for few sensational projects with top directors. However,
her health condition is not allowing her to do so.
Samantha has been replaced by Tulasi in Mani Ratnam's Kadal and now Shankar is looking for a better option in his ambitious project 'I' with Vikram as the lead. It is learnt that Samantha is facing problems with her skin as it is prone to acne. She is taking treatment for it and the doctors advised her to stay out from the arc lights and also the sunlight.
The actress is aware that she has to take care of her health and skin to stay in limelight for many more years. Hence, she isn't in a state to take the risk against doctors advice. Right now she is staying indoors and also has rescheduled her dates accordingly. Samantha will only be in action from July end. She decided to finish off the projects that she has already been shooting for and will only take up new films after she is done with these. Get well soon lady!

On the other hand, Silk Smitha is an icon who redefined the worth of item girls. More than skin show, she proved her acting capabilities and has shut the mouths of critics many items. It is really foolish to draw a comparison with this yesteryear Telugu beauty who is more than a star.
They say that there won't be any permanent friends and foes in film industry. Here is an example for it. Nithya and Siddharth were at loggerheads earlier as Siddharth kicked her out of Oh My Friend to have his 'friend' Shruti as the female lead. Irked by this Nithya told that Siddharth is interested in Shruti and that is the reason why she was replaced.
In spite of that bad experience Nithya Menon is playing a special role in Siddharth's upcoming film. However, she is doing this as a token of gratitude for director Nandini Reddy as she gave break to Nithya Menon in Telugu with Ala Modalaindi. Now with Nithya on board Sid will hope her to bring some luck for him in Tollywood. Nithya proved lucky for struggling heroes like Nani and Nitin. Although Sid and Nithya combo failed in 180, that was made in Tamil. Her 'direct' films track record in Tollywood has been excellent so far.
Adding to that Samantha is playing the lead role in this film. She also has a superb track record in Telugu film industry. She hasn't yet scored a failure and Sid hopes that she would continue to hit hits in a row. We have to wait and see if these lucky ladies help Siddharth to get out of the flop streak as Tollywood remains his primary business zone as of now. His previous film Love Failure failed in Telugu even though it did well in Tamil.
The Cyberabad police said that Vasireddy Chandrabala, the IBM employee and Mr Laxminarayana’s classmate, had lodged a complaint on Monday regarding the manner in which her call data was obtained and exposed by the YSR Congress.
Earlier, a police official said, “No individual can be allowed access to the call detail record and it is an offence under the Indian Telegraph and IT Act.”
Actors who have stolen the attention are many and have marked a niche for themselves with a wider fan base. Whether Sunny Leone's pronography or Poonam Pandey's shedding inhibitions on the lightest provocations or the magazine covers of the Veena Malick, all are on oneside and sensuous candid Mallika Sherawat is on the other side say critics
Mallika is not only gorgeous but also versatile in her potrayal and a classic example is in Dasavataram and Hisss. In fact the actor's every movie has an impression of self, on the depiction. This could be because of her anglican looks or accent or due to her raunchy moves combined with expressive eye ball. Every thing sums up for what she is craved by her larger fan base say critics.
Total state is now revolving around the 'liquor' theme. From politicians
to common people, everyone is falling flat for the ecstasy of these hot
drinks, not for drinking but selling them.
Almost in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh, more than 2500 applications are received on an average for 250 shops. Though this trend is prevalent from long time, what looked stunning is that women and young youths have rushed to the counters to file tenders in huge numbers. While some women represented their husbands as their lucky mascots, some women have directly filed applications to run 'liquor' shop on their own. More than 35% of the applicants are said to be women. The fate of all these persons is linked with the 'lottery' the government is going to conduct to finalize the deals.
Surprisingly, many women's groups are fighting against CM Kiran's government to abolish this 'lottery' method, but not for the abolition of Liquor in state. Liquor gives kick not just when drunk, by when you sell it too.

London,
Mar 31: British women are top of the game when it comes to using their
cleavage to get ahead in life, a new study has claimed.
According to the findings of the survey, commissioned by Wonderbra, an increasing amount of females are reaping the benefits of their decolletage.
In a poll of 1,000 women across the UK, one in seven admitted to wearing plunging necklines in the workplace to give their career a boost, while 8 percent revealed that low-cut tops had helped them escape a parking fine.
Meanwhile half admitted they flashed more flesh in a bid to get served at a bar and more than a quarter - 28 percent - believed a bust-enhancing bra would make a lasting impression on a potential suitor.
Overall two thirds of women reported exposing clothing made them feel sexy and more confident.
“Showing your cleavage is the embodiment of empowerment,” the Daily Mail quoted a spokesperson for Wonderbra as saying.
Striving for the ultimate cleavage the poll also discovered that four in five women eye up other girls’ assets, from friends to celebrities.
Top 5 places where women flash their flesh:
Cleavage in bars in a bid to get served – 50 percent
Wear a bust-enhancing bra on a first date – 28 percent
Use assets to queue jump – 16 percent
Wear plunging necklines in the workplace to boost their career – 14 percent
Rely on low-cut tops to escape a parking fine – 8 percent

Delhi, June 26: An increasing number of women across India are keen to
tie the knot before they turn 25, and states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh
and Gujarat top the chart, a survey released here Tuesday has showed.
Conducted
by online matrimonial portal Jeevansathi.com, the survey said Tamil
Nadu had registered the maximum increase of 19 percent in the last two
years followed by Delhi which had witnessed a 14 percent increase - from
32 percent in 2010 to 46 percent in 2012.
"Some
64 percent of girls in Kerala, 54 percent in Gujarat and 53 percent in
Andhra Pradesh got married before they turned 25," said the survey.
"States
like Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh have also witnessed an
increase in the girls opting for early marriages... Almost all states
show more than 10 percent increase," added the survey.
"While
it's a common belief that women today are comfortable with late
marriages, the survey shows that most young ladies wish to get married
before reaching the age of 25. This could be due to various
socio-economic factors and also due to a personal need for
companionship," said Rohit Manghnani, business head at Jeevansathi.com.
One of the top leaders in Krishna district, Vallabhaneni Vamshi has
lashed out at Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal. He said Vijayawada
people would chase Lagadapati Rajagopal out of Vijayawada soon.
Chandrababu doesn't have the need to take advices on flyover from the
one who studied four engineering bachelors course for six years.
Addressing the media at a protest by Chandrababu in Vijayawada, Vallabhaneni has said that Lagadapati Rajagopal winning in Vijayawada this time would be impossible. It may be noted that Lagadapati Rajagopal wanted to talk to Chandrababu Naidu and elucidate the challenges before the government for contructing flyover at the temple. Commenting on Lagadapati's attempt to meet Chandrababu, Vallabhaneni has asked Lagadapati to know his level before he utters anything.
Vallabhaneni said Lagadapati didn't reach the level to talk to Chandrababu Naidu. He said they (TDP leaders) were ready for debates at public forums in any centre.

South Indian stars, celebrities and other film personalities have rocked
in Dubai at the recent SIIMA awards. Now, let's take a look at the
sexiest girl who has outplayed everyone with her gorgeous looks.
Top class heroines like Trisha, Shriya, Asin, Sameera Reddy, Namitha, Shruti Hasan, Amala Paul, Hansika, Deeksha Seth, Divya Spandana, Lakshmi Rai, Haripriya, Parul Yadav and many more are present at the venue. Among all, Trisha looked more happy and glowing with her sensuous make-up and dressing. Like the way she has won 'Youth Icon' award, the petite beauty tried to look youthful with her darling smile. But, critics are not accepting Trisha as youth as her 30 year age is clearly visible in many angles.
They say that among the young sirens gang, Shruti Hasan is perfectly sexy and desirable girl. Right from enthralling every one with her looks to flaunting her sexy assets in the most aesthetic way, this curvaceous beauty has won many hearts. By singing, dancing and walking elegantly on the ramp, Shruti looked like a perfect chocolate that everyone likes to melt!

Gone are the days when high end remunerations were meant only for heroes and directors. Today, even heroines are demanding quite a bit. Though this culture is yet to spread fully in Tollywood, it must be said that the likes of Tamannah, Kajal Agarwal and others are already touching Rs 1.5 crores.
Amidst this, one sexy siren who has received Rs 50 lakhs is considered the costliest heroine. She is none other than Shriya Saran. It is heard that Shriya got this amount for her bilingual venture titled 'Chandra' which is being made in Kannada and Tamil. With this, she is the most expensive actress of Sandalwood.
While that is a great achievement there, it may not be so for Shriya personally. For someone who has worked with the likes of Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna etc, Shriya's profile is far higher but when bad time is running nothing much can be done. Her receding opportunities and lack of offers landed her with 'Chandra' and Shriya is making the most of it now.
Now, what is catching the attention of many is the new look of Parvathi. She has put on few pounds and inside talk is that she has done that on the behest of Nandamuri Balakrishna, the hero of the film. As such, the cine folks say Balayya likes his heroines to be voluptuous.
Given Parvathi's tall frame, she would be a vision of beauty if she has few extra pounds. Ironically, Parvathi is one of those rare beauties who never got her due despite having the right sex appeal and natural beauty. With the new look of 'Srimannarayana' it remains to be seen if she can prove her mettle or not. Let us hope she does.
15 girls perform obscene dances
Some combinations look good on-screen, but such casting will leave some
indigestible blocks in viewers' mind. Looks like, such combination is
soon going to work out in Tollywood.
In a career span of five years, wide eyed Kajal wooed Telugu audiences with her sizzling figure and expressive performances. All this is done by our tempting beauty by acting aside youthful heroes only. Other than Raviteja, she never paired with any senior hero of Tollywood. If reports are to be believed, she is soon going to share the screen with King Nagarjuna. Earlier, our hottie has romanced Nag's son Naga Chaitanya in flop flick 'Dhada'. More than that movie, Kajal is also a big flop for her pale looks in that flick. Is she ready to shake her leg with father after failing to score marks with son?
Earlier we have seen how Nag reacted when linkup rumours popped between Anushka-Nag and Anushka-Chaitu. To avoid such gossips, he might not say a go to Kajal as there is no scarcity of heroines for him.

Hyderabad,
June 23: Several top film producers like Allu Aravind have met the DGP
Dinesh Reddy and complained to him about unnecessary harassment based on
wild allegations.

Maddelacheruvu Suri was arrested, some film producers including Natti
Kumar started making allegations about the gangster’s links with some
producers. Police have taken cognisance of the complaints and started
investigation, resulting in unnecessary harassment of some of the top
producers.
Based
on the complaints by Natti Kumar, CID officials have already registered
cases against few prominent producers and financiers.
It
is learnt that besides Allu Aravind, producers K Ashok Kumar and ML
Kumar Choudary have also met the DGP and CID additional DG SV Ramana
Murty on behalf of the film chambers and expressed their concerns. They

requested the police to book cases only after checking prima facie
evidence in the complaint.

Hyderabad,
June 23: Police arresting youngsters at a rave party in a resort near
Hayatnagar on the outskirts of the city on Friday night has brought to
the fore the way youth is becoming slaves to liquor, drugs and unnatural
pleasure.
Police who raided the resort were themselves shocked at finding some boys and girls without clothes in a highly inebriated condition. Remnants of drugs, liquor bottles and condoms have proved what might have happened at the resort, where a party was claimed to have been organized to promote some real estate business.
The presence of a foreigner points to the increasing drug supply to youngsters by foreign nationals, who have been choosing India for their operations because of the less stringent laws here. Several foreigners were caught by the police in recent times, while selling drugs to the youngsters. Foreign students, especially those from countries like Nigeria have made drug-peddling as their main business in Hyderabad city. There are even film actors among the clientele of these peddlers.
Coming back to the scene at Hayatnagar, some very expensive cars were seized from the spot, suggesting that children of the very rich and powerful were involved. Early reports suggest that the arrested included the son of a SP level police officer.
Politicians have already sprung into action to get the arrested youngsters released silently without causing damage to their families.

June 23: Minister for Civil Supplies and Legislative Affairs, D Sridhar
Babu has exuded confidence that a good result was in the offing (on
Telangana), as a result of the struggle being carried on by the
Telangana congress representatives.
The Minister said that some people were fighting for Telangana; but separate State would be a realty because of their (T congress) struggles only.
He said that one particular newspaper was carrying on a campaign saying that there was no development in the State since 2009. He refuted the claim and said that the Government was distributing uniforms to two lakh students and giving scholarships to 27 lakh students.
Sridhar Babu inaugurated the Railway over bridge constructed at a cost of Rs.17 crores at Yamnampet in Ghatkesar mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

West zone police have raided a rave party yesterday evening to arrest five persons including a woman. Drugs like cocaine and LSD are seized from this rave party happening in posh three bed room apartment in Banjara Hills area. Some sources are saying that the woman caught is a popular anchor in a Telugu entertainment channel.
Tollywood is once again puzzled with the news of an anchor getting caught in drugs. But, police haven't confirmed this and the identity of the women caught in raid is still under cover. Case is registered only on four persons as other managed to escape including the woman, stated another Police source.
Yet another rave party was busted in the outskirts of Hyderabad city by

Police have raided a farm house of a famous resort in the outskirts of city that comes under Hayat Nagar mandal. 25 girls who are caught red-handed
when they are dancing in semi-naked state are arrested along with 15
other youths. More than 20 luxury cars including some Benzs, Skodas and
Audis are seized from spot. Police have recovered unused condoms and
packets of cocaine and other drugs from the spot. The girls are said to
be from Andhra, Delhi and Punjab. Other youths are identified as a
couple of rowdy sheeters, sons of a prominent politician and
businessmen.
This is the third in line this month after a couple of incidents last week in Banjara Hills area. There is no doubt, drugs are flowing like water into the city despite of the measures taken by police.

We are talking about one plump beauty Supriya who is shaking the social circuits with her stupendous glamour. Though she doesn't look like one of those top sirens, her raw sex appeal is luring many.
Not stopping there, she has become a happening entry in most of the Page3 parties of the tinsel town. It is heard many posh youths are going gaga over this sizzling siren.
Some aspiring directors are planning to rope this sensuous beauty in their upcoming projects. If she can add a bit of performance and timing to her on-screen presence, then there are chances for her to rule the roost.
Shruti Haasan, who rose to stardom with Gabbar Singh, is all set to romance Allu Arjun in his next film under Puri Jagan's direction. She will also play the female lead in Ram Charan's film with Boyapati Srinu. As per the rumor mills, she has been paid the advance amount and a deal was made. So Shruti will be the lucky one to act opposite all the existing mega family heroes.
Kajal has been waiting to do this feat as she already did films with Arjun and Charan. She is doing her second film with Charan at the moment. She needs to be signed up for Pawan's film to complete the mega feat. Actually she was the first choice lady for Gabbar Singh, but missed out on the opportunity as Harish was impressed with Shruti.
Movie : SAKUNI
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast : Karthi, Praneeta, Prakash Raj, Santhanam, Kota, Radhika, Roja and others
Directed by : Shankar Dayal
Produced by : Bellamkonda Suresh
Banner : Sri Sai Ganesh Productions
Music : GV Prakash Kumar
Release Date : 2012-06-22
Tamil actor Karthi's latest film Saguni has been dubbed in Telugu as Sakuni and was released simultaneously with the Tamil version today. Karthi's choice of films has earned him following in Andhra Pradesh. Let's see if he got it right this time too...
What is it about?
Kamal (Karthi) is a common man who loses his only house in a new contract signed by the Government. He comes to ask for justice and realizes that the Chief Minister (Prakash Raj) himself is involved in that fraud. Kamal has no choice but to lock horns with the CM. He makes the best use of opportunities he gets and earns the respect of opposition leader. How Kamal succeeds in bringing down the CM is what follows next.
Performances:
Karthi is believable as a simpleton and his wily antics as politicians are a treat to watch. However his character has been poorly etched and hence he didn't get much scope to shoulder the movie. All in all it is a decent show from the talented actor. Santhanam plays the sidekick to Karthi and he keeps on mouthing as many one liners as he can. Surely few of those worked.
Praneetha doesn't have much role in the film. She is completely gone missing in the second half except for a song and a scene in climax which has been included for the sake of heroine. Prakash Raj is usual. There is nothing much to say about Kiran Rathod. Nazar and Kota are fine. Radhika is good. Roja is okay. Anushka played a guest role which is the best part in the first half. Andrea did a blink and miss role.
On the Technical Front:
Tamil films are technically brilliant most of the times. Sakuni too has good technical values. Cinematography is top notch and editing is neat and crisp. However, GV Prakash Kumar's music is a letdown. None of the songs are worth listening again. Background score is flat.
Director Shankar Dayal dealt a political film in a commercial way. He tried to incorporate comedy and so called entertainment. But so much time has been wasted on it and the actual story has been pushed to the second hour. His approach to this story is questionable. This film needs rather serious approach than this simplistic dealing.
Analysis:
Sakuni is mildly entertaining in parts. The take off scenes of Karthi and Santhanam conversations are good. Anushka's guest appearance is good. The mobile court scene is funny. Interval scene involving Radhika is another positive point. Second half should have been serious as the story demands a gripping screenplay.
However, the director tried to make it in lighter vein and that won't impress the logical thinking audiences. This film cannot be dealt in this way. The plot is serious and the antagonist is powerful. So the protagonist needs to think intelligent do something extraordinary. Sadly, that didn't happen and Sakuni falls flat.
The casual approach has been prolonged to an extent that audiences won't be able to guess that the film has entered the climax phase. There is no 'fight' or 'conflict' at all. It turns cakewalk for the hero throughout the film in spite of having a villain in 'power'. The promising premise has been wasted due to poor screenplay and too casual approach.
Barring few positives on the entertainment side, Sakuni doesn't impress on a whole. It may seem 'watchable' if you leave your logical brains out. This film has shades of Veede and Rangam, but it is not even near to Veede, forget about Rangam.

This is in reference to Sridevi's comeback venture. Yes, after a long hiatus, Sridevi is making her comeback and this is happening through the film 'English Vinglish'. However, it is heard that Sridevi is facing danger from two heroines. They are Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta.

However, on the same day, Preity is coming with her comeback venture 'Ishqk In Paris' while Kareena is arriving with her much talked venture 'Heroine'. Both the films are coming in with high expectations and this has put a threat to the comeback vehicle of Sridevi. Let us see how she handles this one.

Well, we know that Shriya maintains a close rapport with Mega family from the day so of 'Tagore'. For every mega-party, the sex-bomb heroine remains as a centre of attraction. She shakes her leg with all the family members even at their private functions. Now that milky beauty Tamanna is on fire, Shriya is being dominated like anything, say sources. Presently the place of this aged bomb is replaced by young beauty and we know how some recent functions witnessed this.
Except a Kannada film and a hot item-number in a Bollywood movie, Shriya is very free these days. With Mega attention too weakened, some stage-dancing opportunities might miss her way.

jolted her big time. Ileana is hoping to bounce back with twin strikes
in Tollywood this July. She is the leading lady in Julayi and Devudu
Chesina Manushulu.
Both these films are riding on high expectations as they have capable heroes and crafty directors. All Ileana needs is some luck to get back on track. She contributed to these films with excessive skin show and the makers are using that to good effect. Devudu Chesina Manushulu and Julayi posters and promotion material is full of skimpily clad Ileana poses.
Ileana exposed her biggest asset, the midriff like never before in these films. She has also done few 'dirty deeds' like washing the car in extremely mini shorts and tried to grab the attention of viewers with tightest possible costumes. We can see the desperation of Ileana in there. Will this excessive skin show fetch her that badly needed hit or is it going to get wasted. Hope the first one comes true.

Successful film maker S.S. Raja Mouli who otherwise believes and
proved his strategy of story and the making of the film being a
highlight along with the support of screenplay, irrespective of the star
cast... in fact, he is one such director who lets out the story of his
film, on the launch date itself and ends up making his film a grand
success.
The director more than a year from now, is working on his socio fantasy flick, ‘Eega’, starring Nani, Samantha and Sudeep... the movie is scheduled for a release this July… we are getting updates about the post production and the graphics ka work that is going for the film... meanwhile, this flick being a bi lingual and considering Nani’s market in K - Town as well, Raja Mouli has shot a promotional song on Nani in Tamil version and released the song, recently…
The song is really worth watching and Nani’s projection and look in the song is definitely up to the mark... so, we can definitely expect ‘Eega’ to attract the audience attention both in K - Town as well as T - Town... Raja Mouli will definitely make his strategy and mind game work.

Hyderabad,
June 21: Telangana ideologue Prof. K. Jayashankar had fought for
separate State till his last breath and there was no let up in his
indefatigable efforts, TRS supremo K. Chandrasekhara Rao has said.
Addressing
the people in Telangana Bhavan on the occasion of the first death
anniversary of Prof. K. Jayashankar, KCR said that Sir (Prof.
Jayashankar) never compromised in his struggle for separate Telangana
State till his last breath.
Recalling
that late Professor was heart broken when Seemandhra officials teased
him and sent him away saying that he was appointed during erstwhile
Hyderabad government and that he cannot join service in Andhra Pradesh,
KCR said this sordid incident sowed the seed for separate Telangana
agitation and Sir never took rest in his fight for Telangana State till
his last breath.
The
TRS supremo said that when the Centre called them for talks in Delhi
during the height of the agitation, Prof. Jayashankar vividly explained
to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi about the inevitable need to de-merge
Andhra Pradesh for formation of separate Telangana State. “We used to
discuss our problems in the agitation with “Sir” and sought valuable
suggestions from him. Sir used to tell us that we must achieve the goal
at any cost. Sir used to tell us to explain the people about the
agitation and the need for separate State,” KCR recalled.
KCR
said that Prof. Jayashankar used to stress the need for separate State
and the need to reconstruct the region in ruins. He also disclosed that
Prof. Jayashankar had asked him to contest to the Lok Sabha from
Mahbubnagar. Pointing out that the Seemandhra leaders were saying that
Telangana State would be created, the TRS chief wondered why the former
were scared of Telangana State. He also advised the Seemandhra leaders
to refrain from talking cheaply about Telangana.
Apart
from KCR, his son and Sircilla MLA K. Taraka Rama Rao, party politburo
members and other Telangana leaders were present at the Prof.
Jayashankar Memorial meeting. The TRS leaders offered floral tributes to
late Telangana ideologue by garlanding his statue in Telangana Bhavan.
Speaking
on the occasion, several leaders pledged to continue to work for
separate Telangana and fulfill the dream of late Jayashankar. Popular
advocate V. Prakash reminded that the TRS alone would fetch Telangana
State from the Centre in spite of any number of political parties and
organizations working for it.
On
the occasion, the Students wing of TRS conducted a blood donation camp
where several students donated blood. Telangana Bhavan was reverberated
with “Salute to Prof. Jayashankar” slogans.

Washington,
May 31: Voicing Indian businesses' concern over new US restrictions
imposed on H1-B and L1 visas, New Delhi has expressed the hope this
trend will not be sustained in keeping with the "logic and rationale" of
India-US partnership.
India
and the US should be working towards having one of the world's largest
trading relationships, India's ambassador Nirupama Rao said Wednesday,
citing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's comment that there is much
more potential to unleash in the two nations' economic partnership.
Noting
that a key aspect of India-US economic engagement is partnerships in
high technology areas, Rao voiced the increasing concern among Indian
businesses about the difficulties they face due to progressively
stringent visa regulations.
"The
Indian IT industry contributed $15 billion in taxes in the US over the
last five years," Rao told the Atlantic Council, a Washington think
tank, ahead of India-US strategic dialogue here June 13.
"Ironically,
the same industry is subject to new restrictions imposed on H1-B and L1
visas," the ambassador said. "We hope this is not a trend that will be
sustained. The logic and rationale of our partnership merits
otherwise."
"We
also hope as our investments flows further increase, it would also
become easier for Indian financial institutions to expand their
operations in the US," Rao said.
As
India and US "look at ways and means to expand our trade and
investment, we are also working together to find solutions to the
challenges of clean energy, food security, health, education" through
various initiatives, she said.
"As
we upgrade our infrastructure, provide for clean and sustainable
sources of energy to power our economic growth and modernize our
agriculture to improve the livelihood of our rural population there will
be tremendous opportunities for US businesses," Rao said.
Mumbai,
June 21: The Indian rupee slumped to a record low of 56.57 against a
dollar Thursday due to increased demand for the American currency by oil
importers and capital outflows from the equity markets.
The partially convertible rupee was trading weak for the fourth consecutive session.
The
rupee opened weak at 56.40 against a dollar and hit a record low of
56.57 at around 1.23 p.m. at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market,
breaching its previous record low of 56.52 set on May 31.
This
is the fourth consecutive day of drop in the value of the rupee. The
value of the Indian currency has declined sharply since Fitch cut its
outlook on India's sovereign ratings to "negative" from "stable".
Fitch
has become the second credit ratings agency after Standard and Poor's
to cut its outlook threatening India's investment grade ratings.
Both these agencies assign India the lowest investment grade.
In
its mid-quarterly review of the monetary policy announced June 18, the
Reserve Bank of India also disappointed the markets by keeping interest
rates unchanged.
RBI Governor D. Subbarao said early this
week that the central bank would intervene in the currency markets only
to contain volatility of rupee.
