Supreme Movie Review

Anil Ravipudi's Patas was a surprise hit. The young director has delivered a very good entertainer that has given a break for Kalyan Ram who was struggling at that time. Ravipudi has once again banked upon commercial elements in his second film. Supreme is not supreme in any department, but the director made sure to have entertainment throughout the movie.

What is it about?

Balu (Tej) is a cab driver who falls in love with sub inspector Bellam Sridevi (Rashi Khanna). Balu comes across an orphan Anglo Indian kid Rajan (Mikhail) who lives on a footpath. Balu takes the boy along with him. This boy has an untold secret and his life is in danger. Vikram (Kabir) is after the kid and Balu have to save the boy from his men and help the boy achieve his goal.

Performances:

Sai Dharam Tej is a live wire. He is extremely energetic and has good comedy timing. His dances and fights will appeal to the masses. However he has to work on his expressions in emotional scenes. Rashi Khanna played the role of an entertaining cop. She is good within her limitations. She also added zing to the songs with her glamour.

Ravi Kishan too gets an entertaining character. He is competent. Kabir has nothing much to do except for looking stylish all the time. Sai Kumar and Rajendra Prasad did important characters. The real show stealer is the little kid Mikhail who is adorable. Vennela Kishore, Prudhvi, Posani, Srinivas Reddy and Prabhas Srinu did their bit in providing the comic relief.

Technicalities:

Anil Ravipudi's story is as old as hills. Even his screenplay is neither exciting nor thrilling. It moves on a predictable note, but the director is attentive enough to add comedy to the proceedings. The movie could have been a total downer if the director didn't introduce comedy characters at the right intervals. The director's work is not as convincing as his first film though. Second half lacked the zing.

Remix song is good. It is shot well too. Bellam Sridevi too will woo the masses. Sai Karthik's background music is good in parts. Editing is alright. Action episodes are impressive, especially the chase sequence. Cinematography is one of the major attractions. Sai Sriram did a commendable job in presenting the film in a trendy way. The chase sequence has Hollywood vibe to it. Production values are very good.

Thumbs Up:

Sai Dharam Tej

Comedy

Thumbs Down:

Routine Script

Predictable

Below Average second half

Analysis:

Supreme is an out and out commercial entertainer that banks heavily upon comedy. There is action, romance, sentiment and everything that we expect out of a commercial film. However except for comedy in parts and few action scenes there is nothing that really impresses the viewers.

The plot is too thin and very predictable. Despite the routine scenes, first half of the film is passable with some comedy episodes delivering the laughs. The scenes related to Bellam Sridevi's family have come out well. Also the valet thieves episode clicks at times. Interval is alright with an expected twist.

The real trouble starts in the second half as there isn't any conflict in the story. Everything runs on a predictable note without any twists and turns making it a boring affair. Climax should have been handled better. Fight composed on the handicapped persons is a good commercial thought. All in all Supreme has its moments but lacks the punch that is very much needed for a commercial film. It is an okay watch if you go with little or no expectations. To cut the long story short it is an average offering from the Patas director.

Verdict: Supreme is mildly entertaining.

Perumbavur: Covering up a major lapse in the initial phase of the investigation in the brutal rape and murder case of 30-year-old Dalit, the police on Wednesday filed an application before the Kuruppampadi Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to incorporate rape charges (section 376) in the FIR, six days after the gruesome incident.
The special investigation team included the new section only after it received the post-mortem report on Wednesday though an amendment in CrPC in 2013 expanded the definition of ‘rape’ to include forced penetration of vagina with a foreign object, not necessarily a male body part.
The police had said the body was badly mutilated, including the private parts of the victim, a law student. As per the post-mortem report submitted by police surgeon Dr Lisa John of Alappuzha Medical College there were 38 ante-mortem injuries including small aberrations.
The five-page report says that the woman suffered a fatal injury across her chest of 13-cm length that reaches till her liver. The victim was tortured with a sharp weapon pushed inside her vagina which pierced her uterus and eventually her intestines came out.
Police claim that they have preserved a tooth of the victim and viscera samples for DNA analysis. The special investigation team under Ernakulam range IG Mahipal Yadav has hardly made a breakthrough in the case even though six days have passed after the incident that shocked the state.
A member in the team told this newspaper that there are about 10 persons in police custody but the one held in Kannur on Tuesday was not connected with the incident.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan visited the woman’s mother who is undergoing treatment at the Taluk hospital in Perumbavoor. The Permbavur Town witnessed more than 10 protest marches to the Perumbavoor DySP office on Wednesday

he recent decision to expand the congested Hebbal flyover has raised concerns among traffic experts. They say that most flyovers in the city are carrying more than what they can handle.
Traffic expert and advisor to the state government on traffic issues M N Sreehari and his team on four in their recent study by flyovers revealed the difference between the volume and capacity of these flyovers. The study, titled ‘Volume-Capacity Study on Flyovers of Bengaluru’, was conducted on Sirsi Circle flyover (Mysuru Road), Richmond Circle flyover, ITC flyover and Hebbal flyover.

The study was completed in 2015 March and in one year, there has been a 8-10% growth in traffic and reduction of vehicular speed to 5-20 kmph. “This clearly shows that there is a need for longer flyovers, instead of the existing short ones. The government can think of connecting them with good approach roads to clear bottle necks,” Sreehari said.

Traffic volume on Mysuru Road to K R Market is 2,800 passenger car units (PCU) against the 2,200 PCU capacity, on the two-lane road during morning hours. Traffic volume from City Market to Mysuru Road circle during evening hours is 3,150 PCU against the capacity of 2,200 PCU.

On Richmond Circle flyover from Double Road to Residency Road the traffic volume during morning hours on the two-lane road is 1,850 PCU against the capacity of 2,200 PCU. During evening hours, from Richmond Road to Double Road, the traffic volume is 2,150 PCU against the capacity of 2,200 PCU.

Sreehari explained that in case of Richmond Road, though PCU is less than the capacity, the location of he flyover is wrong as congestion is more on roads connecting the flyover. The flyover should have been towards Woodlands Hotel on Raja Rammohan Roy Road.
Traffic volume at the ITC flyover towards Banaswadi during morning hours is 2,765 PCU on both sides of the two-lane road, against the capacity of 2,200 PCU.

At Hebbal flyover, traffic volume during morning hours on the three-lane road is 3,225 PCU against the capacity of 3,300 PCU. During evening hours, the traffic volume on the two-lane road from airport to the city is 2,992 PCU against the capacity of 2,200 PCU. The traffic volume towards KR Puram from the city on the two-lane road is 2,457 PCU against the capacity of 2,200 PCU, during morning hours. But in the evenings, the volume was 2,614 PCU against the capacity of 2,200 PCU.

Crowded flyovers

Mysuru Road - KR Market – 1.2
KR Market- Mysuru Road circle – 1.4
 Double road- Residencyroad – 0.84
Richmond road- Double Road – 0.97
ITC flyover towards

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu never leaves a single chance praising about his party and cadres. He keeps hooting that he is fire and that his party is synonymous for discipline. He should at least stop over doing this self praise for sometime after the shocking embarrassment he got from the TDP corporators from Vijayawada.

Four corporators from Vijayawada went on holiday to Pune. If they had some fun with families it would have been normal. These people boozed heavily and tried assaulting a woman in the railway station there. The Railway police who followed them took them into custody. Not stopping even then the corporators tried to use their power on the police too.

It is learnt that the some TDP big wigs called up the Railways Ministry and helped in the release of the corporators. They even got reassurance that the news did not leak.

Raj has time to rectify his mistake, though for Ravi Teja age is working against him and he may not shoot to fame..

Hyderabad: This is the hugest blow that the AP circar got in the recent times. But regardless of several perks and incentives offered by the state government there is growing disinterest among employees that is stopping them to go to the AP Capital for working. That is not all, the number of employees who have opted and applied for VRS is at an alarming level. The number could go up and the dead line approaches, believe experts.

AP Government will have a fully functional Secretariat by June ending and the government also offered a 30% higher HRA to its employees who would move to Amaravati too.

Government also said it will be a 5-day working affair for one year to facilitate a smooth transitioning for the employees. Yet the government could help arouse interest among some employees who sent applications for VRS. Though dismisseds the 'disinterest' rumour and said that the people who have sought for VRS are only those who are nearing that age, it is possible that many more, especially women employees, who are unwilling to dislocate from their families, to follow the same route. If not people might join and go on a long leave thereafter.

Police in California (US) have arrested the husband of a 48-year-old Indian-American woman who was found shot dead.
Sonia Nallan -- a technical recruiter at Encore Semiconductors -- was allegedly shot dead by her husband James Nallan, also an Indian-American, at a home on Indigo Oak Lane, San Jose. James, 63, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.
Officers arrived to find her with at least one gunshot wound, police said. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The motive behind the shooting that took place on Saturday is still under investigation, San Jose Police Department said. There are no outstanding suspects.
Sonia has left behind her two sons -- Sahil, 21, who attends UC Berkeley and Nitin, 20, who attends UC Irvine. Chris Nallan, the suspect's younger brother, visited the Nallans' two-story home and said the family is in shock. "They had a wonderful relationship," he was quoted as saying by The Mercury News.
Chris Nallan said James and Sonia who met at a technology firm, had been married for a long time. He revealed, about seven years ago, James suffered severe injuries in a fall while doing home repairs and was in a coma for three months. When he awoke, his personality had changed dramatically, his brother said. Once fun-loving and engaging, he became withdrawn, and his moods were unpredictable, Chris said.

Senior director and former union minister Dasari Narayan Rao has expressed his anguish over the television channels not coming forward to buy satellite rights of his movies.
Dasari, who announced that he is going to direct a love story-based movie shortly, expressed his desire to wield megaphone even at this age.
Reacting on the failure of his recent movies, he said these films might not be commercial hits, but had received appreciation from critics.
“Let them be telecast by television channels; audiences will understand their quality and worth,” he said.
Dasari had directed two films – Parama Veera Chakra and Erra Bus, in the recent past and both of them bombed at the box office.
Especially, Parama Veera Chakra starring Balakrishna as hero, could not attract even his hard core fans and ended up as a disaster as it could not recover even the publicity expenses.
As a result, not a single television channel has come forward to buy its satellite rights. So is the case with Erra Bus, which was remake of a Tamil movie.
That is precisely why Dasari is anguished. He wants that at least one channel has to buy their satellite rights so that audiences would acknowledge his direction skills. But, it’s long time since the films were released and flopped. Who will show interest on them now?

Bengaluru: Shreya Ukil, a 40-year-old Indian woman who was formerly a techie at the Wipro office in London, has won a landmark lawsuit in a British court against the IT major for sacking her on grounds of gender discrimination, unequal pay and victimisation.
"The Wipro leadership team, including its (then) chief executive T.K. Kurien, conspired to push Ukil out of her job and her role in Britain," her counsel Slater Gordon said in a statement from London on Wednesday.
The court observed that the direction (to sack Ukil) had come from the very top and was followed through with considerable resolve.
"Ukil was victimised by Wipro's leadership for speaking up about sex discrimination, unequal pay and a culture of sexism," the statement said.
Ukil, who worked with Wipro for almost 10 years, won multi-million-dollar contracts for the firm and received numerous performance awards, started raising concerns in 2012, which went unheeded.
Ukil sued the Bengaluru-based outsourcing firm in October 2015, seeking one million pounds compensation for gender discrimination, unequal pay and harassment.
Sacking Ukil and her superior Manoj Punja, 54, the company had then said that they were relieved from service after an internal inquiry established that they were into a relationship but did not report about it to the company as a policy.
Ukil, who was the sales and market development manager for Wipro's back office operations in London, filed the lawsuit with the central London employment tribunal, claiming she was forced into an affair by Punja, a married man, who was head of its business process outsourcing (BPO) office in London.

"Supreme" is directed by Anil Ravipudi who debuted with "Pataas". Unlike his debut movie, he has given equal importance to the female lead. He said that comedy is generated through Bellam Sridevi's character.
Bellam Sridevi is the name given to the role played by Raashi Khanna. She has played the role of a cop and has also kicked the butt.
Sai Dharam Tej is not worrying about Rashi Khanna hogging the limelight as the first half of the movie focuses on playfulness between them but in the second half the drama completely is on him.

Most of our heroes don't like to repeat their heroines. They look out for fresh combinations all the time and a heroine is not repeated if their combination didn’t work in the first attempt. However the beauty with thunder thighs, Raashi Khanna seems to be an exception to it.
Raashi is currently doing Oxygen with Gopichand and an untitled film with Raviteja. Her first films with these heroes were Jil and Bengal Tiger respectively. Both these films ended up as average fare. Despite that Raashi is romancing them again. Now Ram is added to this list.
Raashi is going to romance Ram again in his upcoming film directed by ‘Kandireega’ Srinivas. Ram and Raashi’s first film Shivam was a huge disaster. In spite of it Ram is repeating Raashi in his next film.
Recently Rakul Preeth got a second chance from Ram Charan after her first film with the mega powerstar ended up as dud at the box office. So our heroes are finally accepting that heroines have nothing to do with a movie’s failure.

The Chandrababu Naidu government’s decision to appoint an eight-member panel of renowned architects to assist Japanese firm Maki and Associates to redesign the government buildings in the new capital of Amaravati has come under sharp criticism.
For reasons known only to him, Naidu had selected the Japanese company to design the capital city official buildings at a whopping cost.
He even declared that the designs were trendy and of international standard. But following criticism from all quarters that the designs do not reflect the Telugu culture, Naidu changed his mind and wanted the Japanese company to redesign the same.
However, Maki and Associates started creating troubles for Naidu saying it cannot prepare designs reflecting Telugu culture, which it does not know. So, it wanted the help of local architects who would help them in giving new designs, but they should be paid by the Naidu government itself.
Now, Naidu has appointed a committee of eight local architects to assist Japanese company. The question is when they can prepare the designs reflecting Telugu culture, why should they assist Japanese company? Is it not extra burden on the government? Why can’t Naidu cancel the deal with Japanese firm?

In early April, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that the agency received more than 236,000 petitions for H-1B visas during the annual filing period. This means, that once again the demand for high-skilled temporary foreign workers in the US is nearly three times higher than the 85,000 cap on H-1B visas mandated by the US Congress.
The fact, that demand for visas continues to be so high – despite the reinstated and increased visa fees unfairly imposed by Congress in December 2015 – certainly proves that a shortage of information technology specialists in the US persists.
In fact, the shortage is getting worse as businesses and other organisations across all sectors of the American economy seek digital strategies to gain efficiencies, improve customer service and open new markets.
According to US government data, there could be 2.4-million unfilled STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths-related) jobs in the US by 2018, with more than half of these vacancies in computer and IT-related skills.
So why do certain US “experts” and the journalists who follow them continue to claim that employees of India’s IT sector operating in the US are stealing jobs from Americans? In part, such claims reflect an election year climate in the US, when complicated issues are boiled down to simplistic slogans to attract votes. But they also reflect myths that we at Nasscom are working hard to correct.
One such myth is the mistaken notion that American workers are losing jobs to less than fullyqualified foreign workers on temporary visas and are required to “train” these workers before departing. In reality, the IT professionals coming to the US from India on temporary H-1B visas are well educated and highly trained in technical knowledge.
Another myth is that temporary high-skilled workers earn far less than their American counterparts.
This has been disproven by credible US institutions such as the Brookings Institution, whose studies have found that H-1B visa holders are paid salaries comparable to or even higher than American workers with bachelor’s degrees.
Also a myth is the notion that building a virtual wall of policies and even higher costs to keep Indian IT companies from operating, investing and recruiting in the US would somehow benefit the job prospects and quality of life of Americans. Most certainly the opposite is true. If American businesses cannot obtain skilled IT support in the US, they will have no choice but to curtail operations and cut jobs, or to move operations to overseas locations.
Besides making their US customers more efficient and competitive, Nasscom member companies also invest nearly $1 billion annually in the US, support the employment of more than 411,000 Americans and pay $6 billion in federal, state and local taxes a year.
Yet another “idea” that seems to be growing in this US election year is that foreign trade hurts Americans. Certainly the opposite is true when it comes to India, which the World Bank expects to overtake China in real GDP growth this year. A long-standing US trade deficit with India is beginning to turn around, based on 2015 data.
When increased US defence sales to India are added to the equation, that deficit is further reduced. US military sales to India have increased dramatically along with remarkable strides in military cooperation since the New Framework for Defence Cooperation in 2005.
Rather than building walls, we should remove impediments to strategic collaboration, trade, and the free exchange of intellectual talent. A strong commercial and strategic partnership between India and the US is in the interests of both of our nations. Unfairly focusing blame on India’s IT sector is not.

Donald Trump has won the Indiana primary and become the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, something no political pundits predicted when the billionaire real estate mogul joined politics and announced his race to the White House last June.
"I am honoured to be the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party. It is time to unite our party and defeat Hillary Clinton," Trump yesterday said in a message to his supporters after winning the Indiana primary, where he got more than 52 per cent of the votes polled.

His main rival, Senator Ted Cruz trailed behind by more than 16 points.

Cruz later announced to drop out of the Republican presidential race.

Soon thereafter, the Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Reince Priebus said that Trump would be the presumptive nominee.

"We are going to make America great again," a confident Trump told supporters at his campaign headquarters in New York as he announced to take on Clinton, his potential Democratic rival in the November presidential elections.

"We are going after Hillary Clinton. She will not be a great president. She will not be a good president. She would be a poor president. She does not understand trade," Trump said, giving a brief glimpse of his campaign against the Democratic presidential nominee.
In his remarks, Trump described Cruz as a tough competitor and appreciated his decision to withdraw from the race.

"I want to congratulate Ted Cruz.     He is a tough smart competitor," he said of the Texas Senator with whom he had a bitter exchange of words hours before the result of the Indiana primary.

"Ted Cruz is one hell of a competitor. He is an amazing guy. He has got an amazing future. He is one tough competitor," Trump said.

In his speech that lasted for a little less than 20 minutes, Trump talked about uniting the party and focusing on trade and economic issues.

"We are going to bring back our jobs," Trump said as he warned the US companies with "consequences" if they moved out of the country.

Trump, a New York-based real estate mogul who made money from constructing buildings, and a popular reality television star, joined politics about 10 months ago.
