Actor Sharwanand is arguably one of the best actors among young heroes in the Telugu industry. While initially he struggled to score commercial hits although his roles were appreciated by many critics. However, Sharwa managed to break the jinx and his last three films have done well at the marquee. While Run Raja Run, Express Raja were hits, Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju was an average grosser at ticket windows yet lapped up by critics.
Sharwa's last film Express Raja was released on the eve of Sankranthi. And now we're almost into June. Still, the Prasthanam star hasn't started his new movie yet. While film nagar is buzz that Sharwa would be teaming up with debutante director and BVSN Prasad would be producing the film, there's no official statement on when the film would go onto floors.
At a time when many of the flop heroes are starting their films one after the other, Sharwa is seems to be a bit slow. Well, looks like Sharwa has become more choosy. It's definitely needed after 3 hits and one has to appreciate Sharwa for it, but too much gap is also not good. -

Bollywood has seen some of the finest biopics in Indian Cinema. While many had come in the past, and more (Neerja, Azhar, Sarabjit) have come in the recent times and many more (Dangal, Dhoni, Sachin, Kishore Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Rani Laxmi Bai and etc ) are yet to come, Tollywood is now slowly adapting to the trend.
The latest we hear is that a biopic on legendary actress Savitri would be filmed soon. The life of yesteryear heroine Savitri, who earned the sobriquet of Mahanati, will be chronicled by young filmmaker Nag Ashwin who made a decent debut with Yevade Subramanyam.
Born on January 4, 1936, Savitri made her acting debut in 1950 Telugu-Tamil drama Samarasam, and went on to star in several classics such as Devadasu, Missamma, Penin Perumai, Pasa Malar, Bhale Ramudu, 'Thodi Kodallu, Mayabazaar and Gundamma Katha. Besides donning the greasepaint, Savitri also directed a few films such as Chinnari Papalu, Chiranjeevi and Mathru Devatha. She was even a popular playback singer. Subsequently, her personal life saw lows and pushed her into depression.
It's learnt that the movie wouldn't touch the dark side of her life and would focus more on the happier times of her and her contribution to cinema. There's no clue on who's going to play the protagonist. The yet-to-be-titled film will be made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. The film could be called as a tribute to first lady superstar of Telugu Cinema. -

One of the major drawbacks, Telugu Film Industry facing right now, is the ‘directionless’ directors. Poor planning, lack of bound-scripts, done-to-death stories, forced parodies, banking on fight-song-comedy formula, no command on the subject, unable to come up with new ideas, failing to gauge perfect run-time for given story, too many cliches, deja vus, predictable climaxes, wastage of content (which would go under scissors at editing table) pushing producers to rethink thrice before taking up a project. In addition to all the above, several personal obligations they have in choosing cast, crew and their remunerations, though unnecessary many of the times, stays at star hotels, pre-production bills spiking high like never-before.
From average films to flops to duds, T-town witnessed several projects that didn’t work at all. While few were failed for many factors (competition, timing of release, weather, prevailing conditions etc) , many others were out-rightly rejected by the audiences. Yet Telugu filmmakers are very slow learners that they hardly learn from their mistakes. By the time they’re willing to correct themselves and open their eyes, the major damage would be done.
Sample Srikanth Addala. The director’s last film with Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh got over-budget and reports had it that the film’s run-time too was too lengthy to take it. Producer Dil Raju had to step in then and remove the total portions of Brahmanandam from the film to save the film. Had Srikanth learnt to come out with bound script with plan to use best out of the total cast, the fate of Brahmotsavam would had been very different.
Sreenu Vaitla too no different. Even after failure of Aagadu, Vaitla came up with mediocre movie Bruce Lee. The film tanked at the BO and distributors lost big monies. No doubt, Vaitla had delivered many good films in the past, but what’s missing now is full attention and profound thought into script.

Though Sukumar is slightly better. Yet time and again he’s making ‘Cost-failure’ projects. Post One-Nenokkadine’s failure, Sukumar did Nannaku Prematho which again increased cost of production. Though Nannaku Prematho received decent revenue and good talk, the profits weren’t much due to high production cost.
Vamshi Paidipally‘s Oopiri might have received good reviews all over. But the reality is that the film hasn’t made money as publicized. One of the major stumbling blocks for the film was its high-budget. Made with Rs 60 Crore, the multi-starrer film ended up in losses. Even positive word-of-the-mouth, rave reviews, high publicity didn’t help much.
Surender Reddy‘s Kick 2 was highly criticized as it had no resemblances to its original Kick. While Kick was a laugh riot, its sequel saw audiences crying foul.
VV Vinayak too shocked one and all with his dud Akhil. Touted to be debut of a star kid, the movie tanked without a trace and burned pockets of buyers. Even Vinayak’s Alludu Seenu was again a cost-failure project.
Pawan Kalyan‘s Sardaar Gabbar Singh is yet another shocker to the industry. The movie directed by Bobby with Pawan Kalyan’s supervision, story and screenplay, bitten the dust. Although it had record openings, the film didn’t sustain at the marquee due to its poor talk.
Even sensible director like Krish Jagarlamudi got it wrong while making war-film Kanche. Over-budget was one of the dampeners for this film besides others.
Sriwass‘ Dictator, Bheemineni Srinivas’ Speedunnodu, Dasaradh’s Shourya, Madan’s Garam, Ramesh Varma’s Abbayitho Ammayi all have bombed as audience rejected the films out-rightly.
Sadly, even many of the star heroes are trusting on these ‘directionless’ directors which is resulting in mediocre movies. It’s a wake-up call for directors, stars, producers and distributors.

The relationship between Nayanatara and Tamil director Vignesh is still a mystery. There are reports that she got married to him secretly but they are living separately for the sake of her career. There are also news that both of them were in love but broke up recently.
While the media and industry observers are speculating about her relationship status new rumors have floated around that she is turning producer. The rumors said she will be producing Vignesh's new movie.
But Nayanatara's PR team have denied them. "She is not interested in any wing of film making other than acting, leave alone producing movies," her PR team sent a message.
Nayanatara has her hands full with movies in Tamil and Telugu with "Babu Bangaram" and Karthi's "Kashmora".
Protests have erupted in Parawada in Visakhapatnam district as the family of a married woman, who was killed in a road accident on Sunday, charged that it was not a case of hit-and-run, but murder.
The police had initially registered a case of hit-and-run, but are now on the lookout for the men who killed Moturu Lavanya, a mother of two.
According to the police, Lavanya (29), a resident of Vadlapudi area, had gone to Nookalamma temple at Anakapalle with her husband Appalaraju and her sister-in-law on a motorbike on Sunday. A group of men spotted the women at the temple and started teasing them. As the men were drunk, they started physically and verbally abusing the women. Appalaraju reprimanded the men, reminding them that they were in a place of worship.
When Lavanya and her family were returning home, the men followed them in a car and hit the bike. “While my sister and I fell off the bike, Lavanya who was sitting at the end of the seat fell on the bonnet of the car.
They continued driving till she fell down and came under the front wheels,” said Appalaraju, who was injured in incident. He has named one Dadi Hemanth Kumar, a financier, and his other three friends, all residents of Anakapalle, in the police complaint.

Trivikram is one of the very few directors that can make commercial films with clean entertainment that can be enjoyed by all age groups of audience.
Most of his films got clean U certificate from the Censor Board and his upcoming release A Aa too is cleared with clean U certificate.
Censor Board didn’t ask for a single cut or mute in A Aa. This is a romantic family entertainer with loads of fun and drama. Trivikram is having high hopes on A Aa.
He is expecting that this film will be as successful as Nuvvu Naaku Nachav. Of late Trivikram is making star oriented films and not giving so much importance to the script.
A Aa is a story based film that doesn’t deviate from the plot for so called action and comedy. Samantha and Nithin are playing the lead roles in this film.
Music composed by Mickey J Meyer is already a huge hit and the songs are topping the charts. A Aa is all set to release on June 2nd.
Nithin and Samantha's "A Aa" will be the last film to come to the screens this summer holidays. The film is releasing on 2nd June.
Still, the month of June is going to witness several releases. The schools reopen from June 13th. A week later, students and youth will start flocking the theaters again. This has been the trend for many years. Hence, in June Nani and Niharika Konidela are testing their luck.
Nani's "Gentleman" is slated for 17th June. He didn't want to compete with Trivikram's "A Aa". So he is maintaining a long gap between the release of "A Aa" and his movie. "Gentleman" is second release from Nani this year after "Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha" and it has high expectations as the trailer is interesting.
On the other hand, Niharika Konidela who is debuting in "Oka Manasu" is hoping that all college students would bunk the colleges to watch her movie. Her maiden film has been locked for June 24th. "Oka Manasu" is one of the highly anticipated movies as the movie's songs and trailer have become a hit and also Niharika has great fan following on Telly.
In between these releases, Sumanth Ashwin is also planning to release his movie "Right Right". The film has failed to any buzz so far but the makers are hoping to squeeze some theatres on 10th June.
No one else has paired up with Nagarjuna more than Anushka for the past ten years. She has romanced Nagarjuna in her debut film Super and later the couple was seen together in films like Don, Ragada and Dhamarukam.
Nagarjuna calls up Anushka whenever there is a cameo appearance required from a star heroine. Recently she was seen in Soggade Chinni Nayana and Oopiri movies. Now if the buzz is to be believed we are going to see this super Jodi back on screen soon.
Anushka is reportedly being considered for the female lead role in Nagarjuna’s next film Om Namo Venkatesha directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. This film is based on the life story of Hathi Ram Baba.
Nagarjuna is already in the process of getting ready for the character. He is growing beard for this film. Meanwhile Anushka is also the frontrunner for Chiranjeevi’s comeback movie
Indian-American students have swept the prestigious national bee competitions, securing the first three positions for this year's National Geographic Bee championship finals.
Rishi Nair, 12, a sixth grader from Florida took top honours at the 28th annual National Geographic Bee held at the National Geographic headquarters here.
As National Geographic Bee champion, Rishi received a USD 50,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society. This is the fifth consecutive year that an Indian-American has won the prestigious national tournament.
Eighth-grader Saketh Jonnalagadda, 14, from Massachusetts was the runner up and recipient of the USD 25,000 college scholarship. Third place and a USD 10,000 college scholarship was grabbed by Kapil Nathan, a 12-year-old sixth-grader from Alabama.
The final question, which clinched the win for Rishi, was: "A new marine sanctuary will protect sharks and other wildlife around Isla Wolf in which archipelago in the Pacific Ocean?". The answer was: "Galapagos Islands".
Rishi is the second Florida student to win the National Geographic Bee. In 2010, eighth-grader Aadith Moorthy of Palm Harbor was the national champion. In fact it was a nail-biting, seven-question final round between Rishi and Saketh. Seven of the 10 finalists were Indian-Americans.
The seven other finalists, who each won USD 500, were Grace Rembert of Montana, Rishi Kumar of Maryland, Pranay Varada of Texas, Lucas Eggers of Minnesota, Samanyu Dixit of North Carolina, Thomas Wright of Wisconsin and Ashwin Sivakumar of Oregon.
Indian-American students have consistently performed exceptionally well at various bee competitions over the years.
The spelling bee competition has produced Indian-American champions for eight consecutive years, and 13 of the past 17, a run that began in 1999.

A senior Navy doctor has been accused of molesting a junior lady doctor on two occasions this month.
One of the incidents happened inside the bungalow of an Admiral who was not present in his house. The Admiral was away in Visakhapatnam on official duty when the duo from the Navy’s medical unit went to his house in central Delhi to attend to his mother.
Within days, the second incident happened inside INS India, a naval administrative establishment in the capital.
The Navy received a complaint from the victim on May 6 and a board of inquiry, headed by a Captain rank officer, was ordered on May 9. A lady officer of adequate seniority is also a member of the board, which is likely to submit its report to the naval headquarters shortly. As per the procedure of the Armed Forces, the accused has been asked to go on leave during the investigation. “The Indian Navy has zero tolerance on such matters. Once the enquiry process is completed, justice would be done,” said a Navy spokesperson.
The maritime force has earlier witnessed several allegations of molestation, adultery and wife-swapping cases. While several guilty officers and sailors were punished, the Supreme Court recently asked the Kerala Police to form a special team headed by a DIG-rank officer to complete the probe into a wife-swapping case within three months.
The allegations were made by the estranged wife of a Navy officer. The Navy currently has more than 500 women officers, almost half of them are doctors.
Besides medical and nursing, women are now allowed in the Navy in the fighting units, education, law, air traffic controllers, meteorology, naval construction, observers and logistics branches.
The incident has come to light at a time when the armed forces are opening their doors to more women.

Despite being launched a few months ago early this year, the regular shooting of Ram Charan's Dhruva is moving at a snail's pace and the reason is Megastar Chiranjeevi's most awaited 150th film.
Ram Charan, who is participating in the script discussions and other preproduction works out Chiru's 150, is unable to cater his dates for Dhruva's team.
So far, the unit has canned only a couple of minor schedules and this terrible delay has already started showing its impact. The latest buzz in Film Nagar circles is that Dhruva's Bollywood cinematographer Aseem Mishra has quit the project citing frequent delays. Aseem Mishra has now been replaced by PS Vinod, the ace lensman behind Nagarjuna's Manam and Oopiri.
Incidentally, PS Vinod's first major breakthrough in Tollywood was through Pawan's Panjaa. Even though the film bombed, Panjaa is still hailed for its breathtaking visual quality. Now that the cinematography department has been taken care of, the next schedule of Dhruva has been set to begin from June 3. -

Tamil director Atlee, who directed Raja-Rani, got a lot of recognition in Tollywood as well, as the film became a big hit in Telugu as well.
His next film “Theri” starring Vijay, was also released as “Polisodu” on a grand scale. Though this film could not recover even the publicity cost in Telugu, it had earned over Rs 100 crore in Tamil.
Interestingly, Atlee desperately wanted to make a film with Mahesh Babu in Telugu. During the release of Telugu version of Theri, he had a meeting with Mahesh.
Having heard about the track record of Atlee, Mahesh, too, gave a patient hearing to the concepts proposed by the director. There were rumours those days that Mahesh would be doing a film with Atlee.
According to the latest information, there is no positive response from Mahesh to Atlee’s proposal. Apparently, Mahesh backtracked after seeing the failure of ‘Polisodu’ and he reportedly advised Atlee to try for some other actors to do Telugu films.
Having failed to convince the Telugu superstar to a do a film with him, Atlee is said to be back in Tamil film industry eyeing Vijay once again. Since ‘Theri’ was a commercial hit in Tamil, Vijay, too, responded positively to Atlee’s requests.
Though the director is unable to appease Mahesh Babu to make a blockbuster film, he seems to have become a favourite for Vijay!
Hyderabad: There is resentment brewing among many sections of the State government employees that the Secretariat employees are being given undue preference over them, regarding the benefits for transferring to Amaravati. As a result, these employees are sulking and unwilling to move.
Whenever Naidu proposes a deadline for shifting to Amaravati, Secretariat employees refuse and make certain demands. Naidu obliges and gives a fresh deadline, they make a fresh protest and demands which are again met. This has been the story so far!
Naturally, other government employees are going green with either envy or anguish at this preferential treatment and asking for their own pound of flesh.
It would definitely require a Bhagiratha effort from Naidu to move these employees to Amaravati.
we all know what mass hysteria and craze all the last two Aashique films created in India. The film went on to become cult classics and their music is never ending to the ears.
For quite some time now, there has been a huge talk that there will be a third instalment for this romantic series. Now, news is that the Aashique 3 will be launched with none other than original lovers Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
The makers were of the opinion that these two stars will be an apt choice for the film and will ignite even more passion when they come up on screen. Script work is going on as of now and a top director will be helming this project. -

Leggy lasso Anushka Shetty is on a signing spree. When everyone thought Anushka may fade out soon from industry due to age and other factors, she is bagging some big-league ventures. The actress, who gained weight for Size Zero, has lost oodles of weight and is looking well in shape and charming now.
In Telugu, Anushka has already signed to play leading lady in Chiranjeevi's Kathilantodu and Balakrishna's Gautamiputra Satakarni. As per the buzz, she has been finalized to star opposite Nagarjuna, who is considered the third pillar of Tollywood along with Chiru and Balayya, in his next devotional film Hathiram Baba to be made by K Raghavendra Rao.
In fact, it was Nagarjuna who introduced Anushka with Super and later casted her in Don, Ragada, Damarukam for full length roles and King, Kedi, Soggade Chinni Nayana and Oopiri for cameos.
Hathiram Baba will start rolling later this year. Nagarjuna has announced to allocate his two months time to finalize scripts and directors for his sons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil's next projects. This is the reason for the delay in starting Hathiram Baba, although script for the film is ready. -

Unless if it is for worst film and actor category, difference of opinions always exist in award nominees. Not an Oscar is exception when Leonardo Dicaprio fans disagreed giving away the best actor award to other actors though he was nominated for five times previously.
Needless to mention the recent controversy on National awards, when Vikram fans vented their anger and frustration on social platforms for giving away the national award for best actor to Amitabh Bachchan. Even Mahesh's 'hacked' tweets raked up a controversy, when tweets blamed MAA for not nominating him in best actor category for Businessman.
Now, fresh discussions and heated arguments are gaining a lot of attention for another award nomination, in the biggest film awards event of South Indian films, SIIMA. The nominations in Best Actor category have not gone well with NTR fans, as they ask if their favourite actor's Temper performance was not enough to get him nominated.
Well, when we approached SIIMA if they want to spare a thought about jury's decision, Chairperson of SIIMA, Mrs. BRINDA PRASAD ADUSUMILLI responded and her words sounded reasonable..
"We have high regards for NTR and we also consider him as one of the Best Actors of this generation. But Nominations are selected on various parameters and this year had many great films and with no disrespect to anyone the committee has finalised these 5 nominations. We are sorry that we couldn't accommodate NTR this year in the Top 5 Nominations. Thank you for taking your time and writing to us".
"Sure we will definitely put in a strong recommendation to the committee and we genuinely feel he did a great job in Nannaku Prematho".
They have a valid point here and let us see if NTR's Nannaku Prematho makes some noise by this time next year. And the excitement has already begun for the event of glittering night of stars at Singapore this time, on June 30th and July 1st. Have you voted yet?
