May 29: TDP MLA Sitakka has sarcastically said that instead of being
depressed, the YSR Congress party cadres became enthusiastic after their
leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested.
Talking
to the media at the party office along with Telugu Mahila leader Shobha
Rani, Sitakka said that there was new enthusiasm in the YSR Congress as
they were all now thinking that they could be benefited because of
Jagan’s arrest. Sitakka has alleged that Jagan has earned properties
sufficient for generations during his father Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s
regime. She has stated that Jagan was arrested for plundering the State
and not for fighting for the welfare of the people or development of the
State. As such, there was no need for the people to sympathize with his
arrest. She said that Jagan’s mother Vijayamma instead of looking at
the realities, was thinking at the issue only through a political angle.
She
has questioned why Vijayamma, who has gone on fast for Jagan had not
shown any sympathy towards the families of those whose members died
after the death of Rajasekhara Reddy. She has alleged that Vijayamma was
trying to gain politically even through her son’s arrest, by projecting
it in a political angle. She said that she was trying to depict her
agony as the agony of the people.
Referring
to the allegation of Vijayamma that there was conspiracy behind the
death of her husband, Sitakka has questioned why she had not raised the
issue and demanded investigation if she had doubts, when the death
occurred.
Stating
that it was improper on her part to politicize YSR’s death and Jagan’s
arrest, Sitakka has said it showed her meanness. She said instead of
behaving like a mother, Vijayamma was behaving like a politician with
regard to her son’s arrest. Speaking on the occasion, Shobha Rani has
said that by shedding tears over the arrest of Jagan, who was a
plunderer, Vijayamma has belittled a mother’s love and contaminated even
tears. She said that it was strange that she was trying to market even
her tears. She said that though Vijayamma had never shed tears knowing
fully well that Jagan would get arrested, she had shed tears for the
victory of her party’s candidates in 18 Assembly constituencies.
