Hyderabad,
Oct 31: There appears to be some kind of understanding between the TRS
and the YSR Congress to totally liquidate the ruling Congress and the
main opposition TDP, to win most of the Assembly and Parliament between
themselves and emerge as strong forces both in the state and at the
center.
This was clear during the talks the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao held with TDP dissident leader Harishwar Reddy and others on Tuesday.
KCR has reportedly said that while the YSR Congress of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was set to drive both the Congress and TDP into wilderness, TRS would do the same in Telangana.
KCR has told Harishwar Reddy and other leaders that his party right now has chances of winning 70 Assembly seats in the 'T' region and if efforts were made, they could even win 100 seats and all the MP seats. If the YSRCP succeeds in sweeping both the Parliament and Assembly elections in the Seemandhra region, then both Congress and TDP would be pushed into oblivion, KCR has reportedly told the gathering of TDP men. He told them that when this happens, whoever could be in power at the center would have to accept the Telangana demand with no option.
Though there was no written agreement as such between the TRS and the YSRCP to make a joint front as of now, the two parties have generally come to an understanding that they should sweep the elections, pushing the ruling and opposition parties into the background.
It is learnt that it was due to this general understanding that the TRS has decided not to obstruct the ongoing ‘Maro Praja Prasthanam’ pada yatra of Sharmila. That the YSR Congress honorary president Vijayamma could address a massive public meeting at Bhongir in Nalgonda district without trouble on the occasion of former TRS youth leader Jitta Bala Krishna Reddy joining the party, was evidence enough that the TRS would not create hurdles to Sharmila’s yatra, say observers.
As the YSRCP is also making inroads into Telangana, KCR is believed to have come to the conclusion that it would be better to come to some kind of understanding with that party than fight it also along with Congress and the TDP. In all likelihood, the TRS and the YSRCP are likely to come to an understanding even on seat adjustments before the 2014 general elections.
As of now, both the TRS and the YSRCP are concentrating on poaching the Congress and TDP MLAs and other senior leaders, while Chandra Babu Naidu was walking the length and breadth of the state, to strengthen his party. TDP MLA Hariswar Reddy has already announced his decision to join the TRS. Some more dissident TDP MLAs including Venugopalachary and even former TDP leader and independent MLA Nagam Janardana Reddy might join the TRS say sources.
While this is the story in Telangana, the YSRCP is unveiling another story of misery for the TDP in Seemandhra. Praveen Kumar Reddy, TDP MLA of Tamballapalli in Chittoor district has met Jagan in the Chanchalguda jail on Tuesday and the TDP has instantly suspended him for the party. Praveen is on his way to join the YSRCP and the TDP also knows about it since quite some time. Amaranath Reddy, another TDP MLA from Palamaneru constituency of Chittoor district is also likely to follow the suit. TDP former MLA from Payakaraopet Changala Venkata Rao has also joined the YSRCP on Tuesday. TDP Gopalapuram MLA Tenneti Vanita has earlier indicated that she would be joining the Jagan bandwagon.
TRS in Telangana and YSRCP in Seemandhra are continuing efforts to get more MLAs of Congress and TDP to their side before the elections.
With both the parties bent on winning all the strong leaders of the TDP (and Congress) to their side, TDP appears to be on its way to the sick bed.
