Hyderabad,
Nov 5: The police have registered a criminal case against
actor-producer Manchu Mohan Babu and his son hero of the film “
Denikaina Ready” film, which ran into trouble with the Brahmin community
launching a protest demanding banning of the film.
Based
on directive from the Malkajgiri Court, which was moved by the Brahmins,
the police registered cases under Sections 120-B, 153-A and 295-A and
298 IPC against Mohan Babu, Manchu Vishnu, comedian Brahmanandam and
film director Nageshwar Reddy and commenced investigations.
Earlier
this morning, a delegation of Brahmins, who had formed a Joint Action
Committee, met Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy and demanded
immediate banning of the movie, which has not only hurt the religious
sentiments of the community, but also belittled them with various scenes
and dialogues.
It might be mentioned here that the film
had been running rough weather from the very beginning. First it
encountered problem from the Censor Board and after the hurdle was
overcome after making necessary changes, the film ran into trouble from
the day it was released.
Members of the Brahmin community
taking objection to the alleged derogatory dialogues and scenes raided
the residence of Mohan Babu in Jubilee Hills. In the fracas, some
furniture and glass panes were damaged. The screening of the film was
also met with stiff resistance at many theaters.
Even as
the controversy was raging day after day, the members of the Brahmin
Community even lodged a complaint with the State Human Rights
Commission. In an unexpected development, Mohan Babu’s son and hero of
the movie Manchu Vishnu also reached the HRC office to lodge a complaint
about the attack on his house and the damage caused.
While Vishnu was exiting after submitting his petition, he was confronted by the agitating Brahmins, including some advocates.
Slogans were raised against him and shoes were hurled at his vehicle.
Thus
as the controversy surrounding the movie has been escalating, the
members of the affected community moved the court in Malkajgiri
following which a directive was given to the police to file a case
against the producer, director, hero and comedian of the movie.
Meanwhile,
the BJP has demanded arrest of Mohan Babu and others. Party leader
Prabhakar Rao said though the court has directed the police to register
cases and arrest the accused, the government was trying to save Mohan
Babu and others. Demanding immediate ban on the film, Prabhakar has
alleged that the government was helping the producers by allowing the
screening of the film by appointing a committee to delay the process. He
said the film producers were making money while the government was
delaying ban, allowing damage to be caused to the sentiments of the
Brahmin community
