F Tollywood Celebrities !!: Review: Pavitra fails to impress

Pavitra
Cast: Shriya Saran, Sivaji, Saikumar, Kaushik, Roja, AVS, Ravibabu D
Director: Janardhana Maharshi
After making a sensible film like Devasthanam, director Janardhana Maharshi returns with a lackluster film Pavitra, which neither has a decent plot nor a refreshing narration. It's just another story of a sex worker (Shriya Saran), who meets a politician, to expose a fake baba.
Even though, Shriya (Pavitra) looks pretty and shows a lot of skin, her attempt to salvage the poorly-etched role fails. Perhaps the director wanted to suggest that a sex worker who is guilty of her profession but has respect for human values, is better than politicians and fake babas who are more self-centred. The message gets lost in the dreary and predictable screenplay .
The spirited sex worker also teaches a lesson to a rogue photographer, for blackmailing young and gullible girls, then steps into politics to expose others.
Even though, Shriya Saran has broken away from her homely and bubbly image with a bold role, her attempt has gone in vain, due to a bland script. Less said the better about the lousy item numbers and below-the-belt jokes.
Writer-turned-director Maharshi has shown some flair for comedy, with his comic dialogues in films like Evadi Gola Vadithi and should stick to that genre as a director too.
Pavitra is a rich call girl and entertains VIPs. She one day happens to meet a politician, Sudharshan (Saikumar), and comes to know that he has murdered rival politician.
Meanwhile, Sudarshan wants his son Kaushik (Manohar) to marry a minister's daughter, but his son is reluctant. He is then sent to Pavitra, for one night and he falls in love with her.
Sudharshan is shocked and beats up Kaushik and finally gets them married. But his plans go awry when he falls to death...
