Like a scene straight out of a Tollywood film (a la Allu Arjun's Julayi), election officials in Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning have caught three containers carrying a whopping Rs 570 Crore.
What's more surprising is that the money carrying in containers belong to PSU bank State Bank of India. The three containers were escorted by three cars. When the containers were not halted when asked for, officials have chased them and stopped near Chengapalli in Tirupur. The men in the cars, identified from Andhra Pradesh, claimed that they're transferring money from SBI Coimbatore to Visakhapatnam.
Although preliminary inquiry suggested that the money belonged to SBI, security guards guarding the money haven't carried original documents and they're only containing photocopies. Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni ordered for a probe into the total issue.
Ahead of general Assembly elections on May 16 in Tamil Nadu, election officials formed flying squads to prevent unaccounted cash flow during polls. Flying squads have been deployed specially to prevent untoward incidents. Meanwhile, another container with Rs 195 Crore was seized at Coimbatore. -
