In yet another major aviation mystery, the EgyptAir MS804 flight from Paris to Cairo carrying 66 people onboard went missing over the eastern Mediterranean Sea, just after entering Egyptian airspace.
Amid statements of intensive search operations by the airline officials and Egyptian authorities, there are also reports that the flight may have crashed into the sea. The EgyptAir MS804 took off from Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport at 23:09 local time on Wednesday and was scheduled to land at Cairo airport 03:15 local time on Thursday.
The airplane's contact was lost when it was at an altitude of 37,000 feet over the eastern Mediterranean at 02:30 Cairo time. According to an international media house's report, a Greek aviation official said that the flight may have crashed 130 nautical miles off the southern Greek island of Karpathos.
The EgyptAir MS804 was carrying 56 passengers, including 3 children - 7 crew members and 3 security personnel onboard. 30 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, 1 Briton, 2 Iraqis, including several passengers from Belgium, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Sudan, Chad, Portugal and Canada were onboard EgyptAir MS804.
