NTR Canteens in 29 Villages of AP Capital

After the inauguration of the first NTR Canteen close to the temporary Secretariat in Velagapudi on Saturday, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that such canteens will be coming up in each of the 29 villages of Guntur district where farmers took part in the land pooling process. He further added, State Government have plans to set up NTR Canteens all over Andhra Pradesh.

NTR Canteens were operated by the Akshaya Patra Charitable Foundation (APCF) of Hare Krishna Movement. CRDA preferred APCF due to the standards they maintain. Supplying food for subsidized prices was part of Sechedule 3 (1) (iii) of the Land Pooling Scheme.

The prices of food items were nominal. A single idly costs Rs 1, 200 grams of Sambar Rice, Tamarind Rice, Pongal & Tomato Bath were supplied for Rs 5 each, 150 grams of Curd Rice is being sold for just Rs 3.
