Aatadukundam Raa Movie Review
Nagarjuna's nephew Sushanth's latest film Aatadukundam Raa promos have shown some promise. Nageswara Reddy's decent track record has definitely attracted the buyers. That is the reason why Aatadukundam Raa theatrical business was closed many days prior to its release. Film buffs and the trade expected a decent comedy out of Aatadukundam Raa, but what Nageswara Reddy offered was a stale template of dated storyline and unfunny comedy sequences.
What is it about?
Karthik (Sushanth) comes to solve the problems of his uncle Anand Rao (Murali Sharma). He is on a mission to teach a lesson to the bad guys. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Anand Rao's daughter Shruthi (Sonam Bajwa). Although Karthik seems to be helping Anand Rao and his family, there is a hidden secret about him. He comes to Anand Rao's house in disguise. There is a reason for him to take up this mission.
Performances:
Sushanth has tried new hairdo and look. Bearded look suited him. He is fluid in dances but hasn't improved as an actor. He is still struggling to mouth dialogues. Sonam Bajwa is a very bad actress and has totally depended upon skin show to make her presence felt. Brahmanandam's lengthy comedy track isn't funny. Prudhvi did alright within his limitations. Murali Sharma's dignified presence and performance are noteworthy. Posani is as loud as usual. Most of the remaining star cast is wasted in insignificant roles. Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni did cameos which should impress fans.
Technicalities:
Nageswara Reddy is known for making decent comedies, but he seemed totally out of place this time. Dated story didn't give him much scope for innovation and even the so called comedy scenes didn't turn out as expected. This will go down as one of his bad works for sure.
Anup's music is mediocre. Palleku Podam remix is the only song that leaves an impression. Editing is bad as there are too many jump cuts. Camera work is okay but the graphics are tacky. Dialogues are dull and pale. Production values are average.
Thumbs Up:
Sushanth's best look to date.
Thumbs Down:
Story
Screenplay
Direction
Editing
Analysis:
Sushanth has got his styling right, but sadly he chose a very bad script for his makeover. Nageswara Reddy who is known to be a reliable director messed it up big time. The film starts off on a sensible note, but suddenly goes down the hill after it switches to comedy. The director relied too much upon comedy that he has totally lost the track of the plot after a point.
Had the director stick with the plot, the film would have seemed a bit better. There won't be any complaints if the comedy is bang on the target. When the director and writers fails to get the comedy right then everything seems farcical and boring. Aatadukundam Raa is a plain silly film with absolutely no stuff in it.
They have used every trick in the book to make it a watchable fare, but none of it worked including the cameos of Chay and Akhil. Second half is a bit better compared to the totally worthless first half. Aatadukundam Raa is so bad that it couldn't hit any high note at any point of time. It almost looked like the team has given it up midway as if they knew that no one could save this mess. Take our advice and save yourself from this nonsense.
Verdict: Game of 'Thorns'!
