Union Minister Anupriya Patel appealed Women to use the welfare schemes launched by NDA Government instead of selling their bodies to earn livelihood. She made these comments in support of Centre's Surrogacy Bill which is raising eye-brows.
Anupriya Patel blamed the families of the those women who were forced to sell their bodies for easy money. She rubbished the argument that women are into such practice by choice. She also told Centre is trying to convey the message, 'Selling bodies isn't the only way to earn a Livelihood'. She says Surrogacy has become an illegal industry of $2 billion and poor tribal women are exploited.
Union Cabinet recently gave it nod to the ban on Commercial Surrogacy or Exchange of money for Surrogacy. The new Surrogacy Bill allows only close relatives to be surrogates. It prevents Newly Married Couples, NRIs, Foreigners, Single and Gays from having babies through Surrogacy.
