May 24: CBI which has arrested the excise minister Mopidevi Venkata
Ramana has said that he had accepted a bribe of Rs. 8 crore for issuing
several GOs, favouring the Vanpic project.
The
CBI which has arrested the minister who came to the Dil Kusha guest
house in the morning for interrogation, has officially announced the
arrest in the afternoon. It has announced that Mopidevi was arrested at
1-30 pm. CBI has said that in its investigation, it has found that
Mopidevi has taken a bribe of Rs. 8 crores for doling out favours. The
agency has also informed the family members of the minister about his
arrest.
CBI
has said that it had procured all the necessary evidence with regard to
the controversial GOs – GO No. 29, sanctioning exemption from the
stamps and registration act, GO 30 clearing the agreement sanctioning
concessions to Vanpic and GO No. 31, draft of land acquisition for
Vanpic. CBI has also filed a memo in the CBI court naming Mopidevi as an
accused in the illegal assets case against Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
