Hyderabad,
June 5: “There is no culture like covering up mistakes committed by
leaders, whoever it may be, in the Congress and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan
Reddy would have faced CBI inquiry even if he continued in the party,”
PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana has said.
Speaking
to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Botcha said that even
the Chief Minister was not above law and would undergo punishment on
committing mistakes. Congress sees justice as justice and the guilty
will have to face punishment, he added.
Stating
that experienced leaders automatically get suitable positions in the
party, the PCC Chief said that YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma and
her daughter Sharmila were speaking utter lies to gain sympathy of the
people. “I feel sorry for Vijayamma and Sharmila for their efforts to
gain sympathy from the people”, he said.
Finding
fault with the speeches of Vijayamma and Sharmila, Botcha asked how
Jagan, who had constructed palatial buildings, would render social
service. “There was no need for the Congress to kill former chief
minister Dr YSR. He said that both mother and daughter were adopting
Gobles theory and trying to make the people believe falsehood by
chanting lies again and again. Rejecting the criticism of Vijayamma
that why the CBI did not arrested him (Botcha) in connection with
Volkswagen case, Botcha asserted that he never accepted bribe like
Jagan. He said that the Congress party was not lagging behind any party
in fighting corruption. Both Vijayamma and her daughter were campaigning
vigorously as they are money-hungry. He also made it clear that he
would seek apologies directly from the people if he had committed any
mistake. He said that he has no history like Vijayamma to cover up
mistakes.
Exuding
confidence that the Congress would get good results in the
bye-elections, Botcha said that he has doubts about Jagan’s latent hand
behind the death of Dr YSR because Jagan had hastily collected
signatures from the Congress legislators supporting his candidature for
chief ministership immediately after death of his father in helicopter
crash. He also said that he has addressed a letter to Chief Minister N
Kiran Kumar Reddy seeking action against then Aviation director
Brahmananda Reddy. Stating that the Congress was not scared of desertion
of its MLAs, Botcha said that the Congress knows how to protect the
government.
Lambasting
TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for dubbing the Congress as party of
thieves, Botcha asked the former whether TDP was a party of “rishis’. He
sarcastically said that though Naidu obtained stay orders from the
courts, but the people did not grant exonerate him for his corrupt
practices.
